Never mind the Punk, this is simply the best recording ever made - probably more destiny than music; a confluence of various factors only present during the summer of '76...
Release Date July 11, 1994
Terrific live album of this intractable musician. Iggy Pop can hardly be surpassed in fierceness and intensity. He behaves like a hurt wild animal that has been urged into narrowness and now beats out blindly. Whereas the studio versions of the songs are already quite fast, the pace on these live versions is just breathtaking. I don't want to highlight any single songs. They are all excellent. By the way, on piano is David Bowie who also has written some songs together with Iggy Pop.

Given the price and content, if you're after a cheap introduction to The Jam just get this and 'Compact Snap' (rather than 'Greatest Hits', as suggested above). 'Compact Snap' covers all the A sides and a few other bits and pieces while this is a generous selection of less famous material. There's no cross- over in track- listings and between them they cover the essentials, including all the great b- sides. The tracks here are very well- chosen, with the tough but melodic material given emphasis. I would have included 'Tonight at Noon' from 'This is the Modern World', but that's the only gripe.

At last The Stranglers have brought out an album of re-recordings of older tunes. This album would be called unplugged if it were any other band, but as JJ put it's simply not so loud. There is a great mix of songs from 1978's Walk on By right through to In The End from 1998. The album really does justice to guitarist Baz Warne who sounds superb throughout. Many critics will call this a sort of karaoke album, but anyone with any ear for music will soon realise that todays line up has made these songs there own.Stick it on and open a bottle of wine.

What the 2 reviewers fail to mention is that it includes a very poor live performance of Straighten Out. For those wanting only studio tracks then this is not necessarily for you.

This is easily the best Damned compilation available, as it is so succinct. It contains at least 16 of their most essential tracks, that you won't find all together anywhere else.
OK, other compilations offer you more songs, but with this one you won't have to skip any to get to ya faves. If they played all these live it would be fantastic!
This is definitely the album to get if you're just starting out with the Damned.

Shedding the restrictions of popular song structure, the stream-of-consciousness musical hurricane of the 5th and final Crass studio album is only matched by the uncompromising, incantatory polemic around which it rages.
For me 'Yes Sir, I Will' is the pinnacle of their work, however if you're just starting out with Crass you should have a go at the albums in order i.e. Feeding of the 5000; Stations of the Crass; Penis Envy; Christ - The Album; Yes Sir, I Will
At least listen to the the first three before this one anyway - experiencing the progression is important in how the the political intent behind the structure of 'Yes Sir...' is perceived. It's simple and not exactly a new idea to subvert form in this manner but the impact is better ... Read More:
