This is a colllection of all Boyz II mens greatest hits and every track is an absolute classic. For years I listened to rock music and used to laugh at this type of pop,but Boyz II men have shown me how great pop music is when done the right way. Stand out tracks include everyones favourites 'End of the road','I'll make love to you','On bended knee' and my personal favourite 'water runs dry'.Having said this there is not a bad song on the album.Tracks like 'in the still of the night'show Boyz II men at their most harmonic, while 'motownphilly'adds edge to an already superlative album. They are the undoubted kings of ballads, and perhaps criminally now ignored by the British public. This being a shame because I genuinely believe ... Read More:

I love this album sooo much!!!I am a huge, huge fan and I brought this album after watching the Marvin Gaye DVD, 'Live in Amsterdam: 1976' a few years ago. He gave a live performance of 'All the Way 'Round' and I just fell in love with the song so I decided to buy the whole album and I was not dissapointed. The album has been put onto my ipod and has been played constantly!!Marvin is at his sensual best and its just a very smooth and chilled album. I know its classed as a lovers album but I just enjoy playing it when I want to relax as the songs are very mellow.I love 'All the Way Round', 'Since I had You' and 'I Want You' the most but all the songs have their charm. I actually think its stronger then the 'Lets Get It On' album which I think ... Read More:

Life is full of surprises, especially when rare gems such as "Blue" are discovered in those vast vaults at Motown. If it wasn't for Shelly Berger - one of Diana's managers at the company - the album may not have seen the light of day.
From a historical point of view, "Blue" is fascinating; like the "Lady Sings the Blues" soundtrack, many of the musicians played for the real Lady Day herself, Billie Holiday. The exquisite arrangements are courtesy of Gil Askey, who also produced the album.
Diana's nuanced vocal delivery is stunning. It was as if she had been transported back in time to a bygone era of those decadent supper parties of the 40's. Diana's sense of timing - and sense of `knowing' - places her comfortably ... Read More:

This good value compilation provides several classic tracks from Big Barry which do not appear on The Collection of his biggest hits. True, there is also a bit of forgettable filler from the late 1970s, but the selections from his early 70s albums show him on top form, and were on his first Greatest Hits LP back in 1975. Particularly notable are Honey please, I've got so much to give, and the impassioned Standing in the shadows of love - which puts the Four Tops version in the shade (if you'll forgive the pun). The original single mix of Never never gonna give you up is included, and interestingly It's only love is the number later covered by Simply Red.

I must admit The Commodores wouldn't usually be at the top of my list for essential music purchases, but I was pleasantly surprised when I bought this for the wife the other week. I was slightly embarrassed by the amount of songs I knew and could try and sing along to. OK so I prefer the Faith No More version of "Easy", but I'll hold my hands up and admit that Lionel fellow has some silky smooth voice. "Machine Gun" and "Brick House" are quite inspired too. My only gripe about the CD really is that unfortunately I find the slow numbers just a little bit too slow for my liking and as a result the track listing could be shortened by a good five songs. If you are a Commodores fan though don't let my three star rating put you off, the better half rates it ... Read More:

Gladys Knight and the Pips made some records before they signed to Motown, but those records were not successful, so these are the earliest important recordings.
I heard it through the grapevine was their first major hit, going to number two in the American pop chart (and topping the R+B chart) and also giving them a minor British hit. Gladys recorded the song at around the same time as Marvin Gaye, but Motown originally selected the version by Gladys and the Pips for single release. Marvin’s version was released as a single a year later and topped the charts on both sides of the Atlantic. The two versions are very different despite both being produced by Norman Whitfield. He obviously loved the song as he also produced versions by the ... Read More:
