I've been a fan of Stevie's since I was a teenager back in the late 60's. I believe that he is one of the true greats from Motown and this is one of his best albums. "Ain't no lovin'" is a song of joy by someone that has found his true love which is echoed later in the lyrics "For Once in My Life". As a teenager I thought "God Bless the Child" was a Wonder creation until I grew older and learnt that it was a Billie Holiday and Arthur Herzog Jr composition. Nevertheless Stevie Wonder makes the song his own and evokes the hard times that prevailed when the song was written.
"Sunny" written by Bobby Hebb has been covered by at least 40 other singers but Wonders is the definitive version. Again he's singing about someone that he has fallen ... Read More:

Very catchy songs, some romantic others more soulful.
Of all the women he sang with (Diana Ross, Kim Weston etc), Marvin seemed most at ease with Tammi. (although they didn't always record their parts live in the studio together & some songs don't actually feature Tammi's voice at all!)
This CD contains all their hits plus some lesser known & diferrent versions of the hits.
You may be surprised how many you recognise!
Standout tracks for me include Ain't No Mountain High Enough, If This World Were Mine, You Ain't Living Until Your Lovin and The Onion SOng.
Well worth buying if you like romantic songs well sung.

It's as if Lionel was finding his feet as a solo artist and perhaps should have waited artistically instead of releasing this as it stood. I found this slow and dull with nothing to lift the spirits really. Better was to come though.

This album does exactly what is says on the tin - its funky, rock tinged Psychedelic soul at its best!
After a decade of mostly romantic smoochy songs, often written by Smokey Robinson, the Temps entered the 1970s with a bang!
Norman Whitfield took over the reins & tapped into the hippy & black power emotions running high at the time & the Temps turned out some of their very best work.
The lead singer for many of these hits was Dennis Edwards, who's voice was better suited to the more political lyrics than it was to earlier Temps hits such as "Just My Imagination"
This album contains most of the Temps best work in this field & for under £3 is an absolute bargain!

Quite simply as good as it gets. You could literally walk into any R&B/dance/funky house etc, etc, club in the world, put this on and get away without a DJ for a couple of hours. The version of 'The Crown', with Stevie Wonder laying on a few guest vocals, is 10 minutes of heaven. Buy it!

Barry White’s brand of sensual orchestral seventies soul is sorely missed. We can do with a bit of old-fashioned sensuality on radio these days. This love song collection includes all his work (Did he do anything but love songs?) His greatest hits from that melody-friendly decade are all here: Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love, I’m Gonna Love You Just A Little Bit More and the sublime You’re The First, The Last, My Everything. I always liked his understated version of Just The Way You Are much more than Billy Joel’s overwrought emoting on the original, and Never Never Gonna Give You Up is still as delicious now as it was back then. There’s not a bad track on Love Songs and many classics, like It May Be Winter Outside ... Read More:

This lady has got what it takes...and then some... when it comes to belting out a song! Chaka is a diva among divas in the Soul world. She certainly lives up to her name (Chaka meaning "fire"), she burns with talent and there is no-one who can copy her, though many have tried! I Feel For You opens up with a wonderful dance track, "This Is My Night", racey, dancey and definitely a great opening track. Just to slow the mood down a little she then moves onto a ballad called "Stronger Than Before" where Chaka combines her own unique style and flair with that wonderful rich voice. "Eye To Eye" sweeps us along with its catchy intro while "My Love Is Alive" takes us back to the days of street rap and early hip hop. The title track "I Feel For You" combines ... Read More:

I hark back to the glorious 70's (well they were for me) and encountering soul music in many forms. I remember a dreamy summers evening with 'a friend' and hearing a Barry White track called "Girl It's True, Yes I'll always Love You". For over 30 years I still continue to play it and it still raises the hair on my neck. Yes Barry had his own style - critics may use words like 'mushy' and 'over done' and 'drawn out' but have they listened to all of his work ? This album also contains another strong favourite of mine "Never, never gonna give you up" - what a fabulous intro. For those who may only be familiar with "You're The First, The Last etc" and "Love's Theme" - which tends to be the only hits of his that continues to get air play - then don't just ... Read More:

Life is full of surprises, especially when rare gems such as "Blue" are discovered in those vast vaults at Motown. If it wasn't for Shelly Berger - one of Diana's managers at the company - the album may not have seen the light of day.
From a historical point of view, "Blue" is fascinating; like the "Lady Sings the Blues" soundtrack, many of the musicians played for the real Lady Day herself, Billie Holiday. The exquisite arrangements are courtesy of Gil Askey, who also produced the album.
Diana's nuanced vocal delivery is stunning. It was as if she had been transported back in time to a bygone era of those decadent supper parties of the 40's. Diana's sense of timing - and sense of `knowing' - places her comfortably among ... Read More:
