You really can't fault the selection of tracks here (with the possible exception of the Ritchie Family, which made me laugh out loud on hearing it for the first time here). Classics all, and not always the obvious ones.
But as someone who loved every second of these tracks when I first bought them on 7-inch vinyl, it was incredibly frustrating to find that the tracks overlap very slightly, so you lose those ecatatic moments at the start and finish of many of them.
The cue points at the start of each track are sloppy too, so you catch the end of the previous one even if you wanted to skip it.
And in order to squeeze 44 titles on, several tracks are faded out early.

Bobby Blue Bland is rightly accalaimed as one of the greatest ever blues singers and this album clearly demonstrates why. If you are only going to purchase one album by Bobby Bland then I urge you to buy this one. All the songs are great with superb vocal range. My favourite is his version of "Stormy Monday Blues" which I put in the same category as the T Bone Walker version. Brilliant!

Playlist Your Way apart from the cheap card cover which i just dont like and i hope it stops, the cd is ok. has the same good old diana ross tracks that seem to be put out' but its worth putting in your collection just for the small pic of diana, which is a down load card for tracks to put on your mobile. still a great mix of great songs. enjoy

I grew up with tunes like Behind the Groove and Portuguese Love so this album took me back to my childhood. There were also tunes on the album that I'd never heard of such as I'm a Sucker for Your Love, produced and written by the late, great Rick James and the ballad I'm Gonna Have My Cake (And Eat It Too), both of which I loved. If your really into your 80's disco funk then this album is for you. A fantastic singer, really good album.

"Harlem Sessions" sounds like your favorite mix tape you made many years ago; the one that you keep playing over and over because it has all your favorite, desert-island songs. It's a groovilicious compilation of killer soul cuts from the 1970s, with blaxploitation films as the main theme. Of course, you can't realistically include EVERY great soul joint from the 1970s on two CDs, but this compilation does a great job trying. A collection of this nature has some of the usual cast of characters like Curtis Mayfield ("Superfly" and "Little Child Running Wild" from his must-have soundtrack to "Superfly") and Isaac Hayes ("Shaft"), but we also get unexpected nuggets from Cuban jazz legend Mongo Santamaria ("We Got Latin Soul"), Gil Scott-Heron's "The Bottle," ... In Britain, Smokey and the Miracles are remembered primarily for two songs, these being Tracks of my tears (later revived by Linda Ronstadt) and Tears of a clown, but they were more successful in their homeland. Among their American hits to be found on this collection are I second that emotion (later revived by the Supremes and Temptations), Shop around (later revived by Captain and Tennille), Mickey's monkey and You've really got a hold on me. All of those hits came in the early sixties, before Motown's success spread internationally.
Smokey was a prolific songwriter, but as the sixties progressed, he gave many of his best songs to other Motown acts, so hits for his own group tended to be smaller and fewer. The last significant American hits they ... Read More:

How do you separate Aretha's Atlantic albums from the late 60's to the mid 70's? Each has it's own classic tracks, each it's hidden gems and always that superb voice, soaring from a whisper to a scream with no apparent effort.
Aretha was the acknowledged Queen of Soul, and built on her reputation with this combination of original tracks and interpretations of familiar material. The latter is well represented by "Natural Woman" (Carole King), "Money Won't Change You", here merely uptempo, rather than JBs frenetic original, and a sublime "People Get Ready", which I am sure Curtis would have appreciated.
For original material, the anthem of the hopelessly in love, "Chain of Fools" and the bluesy "Good To Me..." stand out, and as for the hidden ... Read More:
