I agree with what reviewers have said so far. This is not as good as Talking Book, Innervisions, Fulfillingness or Songs In The Key. It is quite a good introduction to the classic Stevie sound though and the listener can see how Stevie developed that trademark sound over the next 4 or 5 albums. I would say it is better than Where I'm Coming From and the 60s Motown period is nicely summerised on several compilations albums, so this is the first truly great Stevie solo album. My faves are 'Superwoman', 'Happier Than The Morning Sun', 'Keep On Running' and even 'Evil', though it is very cheesy, I like a bit of that sometimes!. Within temptation a full symphony orchestra and choir. How much better can it get? Playing to a full audience, at the Ahoy in Rotterdam. As Within Temptation' style of music defiantely suits, the style of playing, very operatic and melodic.
Sharon Van Ardel, has a fantastic voice, and I think she sounds better live than on a studio recording. The visuals are very good, with some great camera work. Sound is excellent aswell. Great song selection aswell. Great bonus disc's too. Well a worth a venture if you're into this type of music. Even if your not and you like good quality live music, a must buy.

Truly in-credible album. bad song? no you won't find a trace of one on here, Anita's voice remains strong, deep and soulful throughout the album, this is old school R&B exactly the way it should be, soft and smooth with a bit of jazz thrown in, oh those saxophones. What more can i say? one of the few albums that i can comfortably listen to all the way through, a true R&B fan who doesn't own this timeless masterpiece really doesn't know what their missing, pure bliss from start to finish.

The journalist Craig Seymour (in his bio on Luther) didn't rate this album, so I bought it with some trepidation.

Well, I don't think Craig coud have been more wrong. Some of Luther's vocals on these tracks are amongst his BEST ever performances. As ever, he sounds incredible, but with a Gospel intensity on the ballads; at times he's truly singing the chandelier right off the ceiling !!

It must have been electrifying in the studio. And his jazz-funk take on My Favourite Things is worth the price of admission alone... All the usual crew are there (Cissy, Cindy, Brenda, Lisa, Kevin, Marcus, Nat et al).

I know that some people don't like 'greatest hits' albums for one reason or another. However this particular one is superb, it's a must have. All his best hits cramed onto two discs accompanied with some bonus live tracks and previously unrealeased recordings. For example 'Where are we Going' is execllent and speaks on so many different levels. 'The Very Best of Marvin Gaye' is perfect for any newcomers to his music, aswell as those who just wish to add to their Marvin Gaye collection.

This one released in autumn 1967, catalogues the patchy but growing popularity of the Motown sound in Britain in 1966/7. It may have seemed folly to put so many hits on one album, but they were looking to raise their profile and to consolidate on their recent successes.

I first heard the amazing voice of Teddy Pendergrass on a compilation album. The track 'Turn off the lights', to use a metaphor, just rocked my boat.

Then, out of the blue there was the theme music for muller yoghurts on T.V, which used the theme from Love T.K.O, which of course is on this album too (and i thought wasn't too bad). So i gave this album a go!

Like 'Seal' had to find fame under the guise of 'Adamski', Teddy too was the voice behind another act more commonly known as 'Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes'. If you have heard, like so many people, 'Don't leave me this way', 'If you don't know me by now' and 'The love I lost', then you may not know until now, that the initial voice on these recordings is the man himself.
