This album ended the remarkable run of albums Wonder wrote, performed and produced in the 70s, starting with Music of my mind and finishing in Songs in the key of life. This album is almost unrecognisable from any of them. It was the sound track of a film which has sunk without trace, but I'd love to see it. I understand that much of the music is written to go with the film with scenes as strange as hooking a plant up to electrodes and measuring it's sensitivity while they chop a head of lettuce in front of it. Consequently much of this album is soundscapes and disappointing to anyone seeking radio friendly pop songs.

There were several phases to the careers of the Drifters, but this compilation focuses on their seventies music. In Britain, they were much more successful in the singles charts than they had been in the sixties, when many of their best songs were hits via British cover versions. Their only major sixties hit in Britain was Save the last dance for me, here represented via a re-recording. A re-issue of At the club / Saturday night at the movie made the UK top three in 1972 and was followed into the top ten by a re-issue of Come on over to my place, though none of those songs is reprised here. In America, it was altogether different - they had plenty of major hits there up to 1965, after which they disappeared almost totally from the singles charts.

I only recently got into WT after seeing them support Iron Maiden at Twickenham and this was the first album I bought. It is quite simply brilliant. Comparisoms with Evenescence are unwarrented as WT are in a different league. This album is an excellent place to start but the earlier ones are brilliant as well (especially Mother Earth). the music also transcends the generations as all my 3 teenage boys have become WT fans as well has many of their freinds at school. Buy this album if you have any interest in melodic rock - you won't be disappointed.

This truly is the most authoritative collection by the sisters so far. It covers all the major hits and tracks from all eight of their studio albums from 1975 - 1985. Many people think they burst on to the scene in 1979 with the huge selling album We are Family but that was there third album after Circle of love and Together, shortly to be reissued along with other non essential albums. Also included is their first British hit the Jackson 5 sounding Mama never told me which reached no20 in 1975 and which apparently does not appear on any album. If you love the music this is for you, if your a hardened fan by (Sept 2007) you could collect all eight albums.

Very Best Of Smooth Jazz

I bought this album because it was cheap, and I am interested in jazz. Not that I am a jazz fanatic. I am usually an electronic buff, but want to explore other genres as well to not get the tunnel vision one tends to get with just listening to one genre. So I dare sometimes dive deep into jazz. Not that I have gotten the chance much, so this CD would be a first attempt.

Well, to be frank, I was mildly disappointed. This is not jazz, I know that much. This is soul of various origins. Granted some tracks are really old, and some are very good. But if soul was what I wanted, which is not the case, I would have gone to the local gas station and bought a 10 cd package of the stuff.

The Drifters were already into lineup changes in the McPhatter days-which is why the name reflected "drifting from one group to another".Over 20 years later nearly as many had been in and out as there are tracks on this CD.
Its as definitive as you can get without issuing a Box.

This is a brilliant live album of Aretha singing some of the best gospel tunes I've ever heard. Her voice is out of this world, so rich and soulful it gives you goose bumps. The first disc is slightly better than the second, but you get over two hours of great music that will move you like only great soul/gospel can. Well worth a go.

I am listening to this CD as I write this & I promise you it is absolute 100% quality, all the way through. These early recordings are an absolute treat. Stevie Wonder is not & never has been one of my very favourite artists but despite that,I still enjoy his music & I could not recommend this album more highly - the genius of the man is evident on this set of recordings. Wonderful in every way & a steal at the price - quality like this should surely cost more ? Go mad & treat yourself !
