Doesnt matter whether its floyd or walters its stil a fantastic album. So buy this album, and maybe it will affect you like it has me !!

looking for an overview of Buddy Holly's work? They don't come much better than this. We can all wish this one was in there or that, but someone somewhere had to make a decision on what went in and what didn't. The result is a good all round representation of the skill, the talent, the sheer joy that was Buddy Holly's music. It is hard to believe all this happened in just 18 months. If anyone ever left a legacy, he did.

There's not much I can add to the reviews already submitted, however in respect of Ringo not being given a song, he actually sang lead vocals on 'Matchbox' which was actually recorded during the sessions for a Hard Day's Night. Also recorded during these sessions were 'Long Tall Sally', 'I Call Your Name' and 'Slow Down'. All four of these songs (three of them were covers) were excluded from 'A Hard Day's Night', but released seperately on the 'Long Tall Sally' EP.
Also of interest, the two sides of a single, i.e., 'Can't Buy Me Love' and 'You Can't Do That' were actually recorded at an earlier session in 1964, but included on the 'A Hard Day's Night' album.

I've been a Cohen fan as far back as I can remember. I had a feeling I wouldn't be disappointed by this album, since Cohen's live backup singers are legendary, and I was right. These are without a doubt the most beautiful and emotional versions of the songs ever recorded, and I find it impossible to listen to the album as mere background music; as soon as the music starts playing, I can't help but close my eyes and just let the music envelop me completely.
The songs "Bird on a Wire" and "Sisters of Mercy" are worthy of special mention. The tempo is lower, the saxophone sexier and the vocals deeper and more intense than ever before, and the result defies description. I would have gladly paid in blood to be at the show where they were recorded.

Theme Time Radio Hour is one of the most original and enlightening music programmes on the air. It's brilliantly presented by Bob Dylan who plays an eclectic mix of often obscure records all linked by a theme. Dylan's knowledge of American popular music is immense and each programme is peppered with his unique combination of wit and wisdom. So, Chrome Dreams are to be congratulated for issuing this double album containing 52 wonderful tracks of the kind of music to be heard on TTRH. The only thing missing is the man himself but that shouldn't deter anyone from acquiring this marvellous and wide-ranging compilation of great music.

Without Syd Barrett, it's clear Pink Floyd were struggling to find a new direction. They lacked his brilliant songs, though Rick Wright's Remember a day (on which Syd played) is a fair pastiche, and while Dave Gilmour was a fine guitarist even at the time, he lacked Syd's manic edge.
The result is very much a mixed bag. The attempts to carry on in Syd's style, with such songs as Corporal Clegg and See Saw are, at best, nothing special, while the search for a fresh direction with the title track results in a rather long and padded out piece that's either a brave experiment or the sign of a lack of material, depending on your point of view. Better is Set the controls for the heart of the sun, on which you can hear the Floyd they grew to be. The track that ... Read More:

Just buy it and get that head banging!
4th and 5th Form parties (not discos yet) would not have been the same without 'Hall of the Crimson King': And what respectable bedroom would not have THAT cover thrown casually in view?
Yes the music has help up against time - and the voice still cuts through to even today's youngsters (tried it out on a local victim - he went and downloaded the album straight away - didn't get the cover though).
And I love the packet - mini reproduction LP cover!

Not his greatest album, but certainly not as bad as some of the reviews state, make sure you listen to it more than once, many of the songs grow on you.
Having been to see the live show, I've seen it mentioned that he only does a limited number of songs from this album and saying that obviously Bryan doesn't think this is a very good album, imagine if you went to his show and he didn't play any of the classics that we all love to hear!
Walk On BY is the stand out track for me and was performed in the live show, it was absolutely superb.
If your a fan of easy listening rock then I recommend this album.
