For any folkie the session musicians on this album read like a who's who of English folk rock of the late 60's early 70's. The music and lyrics are sublime my only question is why i had not bought this earlier. It is the perfect sunday chill out album beautifully crafted songs and suberb lyrics

I simply cannot understand the plaudits dished out to this elevator music reincarnation of late '60's white soul boy funk.
Ever heard of Traffic? The Faces? Oh, there are countless bands from the period, and most of which Weller was very keen to dismiss as "hippy" back in the days of The Jam.
Something has definitely happened to Weller. He's got older and matured well, but that's half the problem. This music is suitable for playing whilst you're busy hanging wall-paper or decorating your youngest's playroom. It is so bland, both musically and lyrically, that I have difficulty believing that this album WAS actually written by the same man who wrote Start, Going Underground, That's Entertainment, to name a few.

Whilst I have no argument with the music on this album, it's all great stuff, if you are hoping to hear the great man introducing each track, then think again "he's NOT there" and this is a great disappointment. I had expected from the album description that it would contain those wonderful insights that Bob Dylan is so good at when introducing the tracks, that's why I can only give it three stars.

I bought this album after reading many good reviews about it. Many people have also told me that it is one of the defining albums of classic rock and helped to influence many bands, especially Thin Lizzy who expanded on the sound Wishbone Ash created. Anyway, time for a track run though:
Time Was - The longest song (9:42) opens the album with some nice clean guitar and peaceful vocal harmonies. Then the song begins to pick up with the introduction of some drums and bass guitar. It still makes you feel at peace though and is a very ncie song. It also contains a nice guitar solo. 7/10
Sometime World - This song begins with some nice vocals and some really tuneful acoustic guitar. Not long into the song, the classic Wishbone ... Read More:

This is such an awesome collection!
I have more or less every Clash album made, but this 2 disc CD is a great mix of some of their best work, and really represents why they are one of the greatest and most important bands ever formed.
The first disc is my personal favourite - opening with the stomping 'White Riot', this CD shows their early work...tracks such as 'Complete Control' and 'London's Burning' have heavy political views, but performed in such a furious rage that demands your attention. This is the band in their youth years - all the tracks are pure punk anthems, which I love!
Disc Two starts off with their best work - a mixture of genres such as reggae and rock are clearly heard in 'London Calling' and 'Rudy Can't Fail', but particularly ... Read More:

Some great tracks with echoes of the 60's in some of the stripped down versions. It gives you an insight into how Bob is influenced by others and fits in well to his account in Cronicles. This is the best Dylan material that has been released for a long time. You can enjoy it new to Bob or old like me!
Release Date October 27, 1997
At least Oliver Stone has a good taste in music, when he took 3 songs from this album to make his pseudo satire NATURAL BORN KILLERS.
THE FUTURE is yet another great album by Leonard Cohen with several great tracks which are very meaningful, especially THE FUTURE, ANTHEM, DEMOCRACY and WAITING FOR THE MIRACLE. Anyone who enjoys sophisticated lyrics cannot go wrong here.
Release Date November 26, 2007
I would like to humbly apologise to (a) Davy Graham and (b) my entire group of friends (both of them, well, OK, just Pavel then) for not having bought (and raved about) this recording until this week (after seeing the repeat of the wonderful BBC's "Folk Britannica".
If you are a fan of almost any acoustic guitarist in the past 40 years - Roy Harper, Al Stewart, Paul Simon, Jimmy Page, Richard Thompson, Eric Clapton, [insert name of guitar hero here], then you should, no, MUST have this in your collection.
Stunning technique, amazing invention, exotic combinations - all the jazz, folk, blues and world music radiates from here. What a waste of 40 years, listening to copies (however excellent) of this master.

5* is not enough for this record, 10* wouldnt be enough, in fact 100* wouldnt even do it justice, as another review put it 'the best album ever, by anyone, anywhere'.
A beautiful, heartfelt, sad, haunting, brilliant, wonderful, uplifting and personal record.
Bowie reached pretty high standards both before and after this record, but he never, ever, came close to surpassing it.
Simply a perfect record by a true songwriting genius at the absolute peak of his powers.

My introduction to Joni Mitchell was about 5 years ago with the album hissing of summer lawns, which changed a lot of things musically for me in short I was blown away. Joni Mitchell voice on this album has got a lot deeper but it only brings out the songs more if this album doesn't move you in a way then I have to agree with other reviewers you really don't have a pulse, in short this album is simply beautiful.
