I discovered Joni about a year ago, hearing the song Case of You in the film Practical Magic and looking it up online. I bought the album Blue and completely fell in love with its mellowness and her wonderful voice.
Having listened to Blue about 7 million times i decided to seek out more of Joni. I read the reviews on a few of her albums on Amazon and settled on Court and Spark.
I expected it to be pretty similar as it was released only a few years after Blue, and was surprised to find it different. It's not as mellow as Blue, it's more jazzy and funky, more instruments are going on, backing singers- everything. But it doesn't take away the feeling she puts into the music, and of course her wonderful voice is still ... Read More:

The obvious question seems to be why did they wait 35 years to release this material, it's wonderful. I feel sure that most of this material could readily fit on any of Tom Pettys other albums though the Mudcrutch material does have a more country music feel than his other material. The best tracks for me are 'Shady Grove' and 'Lover of The Bayou', neither of which TP wrote. All said there isn't a bad track on the album.
Instrumentally this album delights too. Tom Leadons country-rock style nicely compliments Mike Campbells perfection. TP doesn't take lead vocals on every track but the others don't disappoint.
So what's everyone waiting for? It's a must for every Tom Petty fan or even if you're not, go and spend a few ... Read More:

This is one of the best nouveau folk albums of all time. Still fresh and meaningful in today's cynical times, with a range of beautiful songs, simply crafted with total integrity. This really is a must have album for anyone interested in quality songwriting, singing and musical craftsmanship.
It still inspires, enlightens and fills my heart everytime i hear it.

Being a huge fan of Bryan Adams, was anticipating this album a lot. Listened to it a couple of times, but then totally lost interest and have not listened to it since then. The lyrics, music choice and everything else seems to be just polished up from previous work. I mean, here we have one of the best male singers of the world, who did unforgettable master pieces before, but now there is nothing special coming out any more. I hardly remember the songs now, and to be honest do not even feel like going back to play it again. Was hoping for more of a change, more rhythm, more greatness from Bryan Adams, but was a bit disappointed. It is not a bad album, the songs are good, but I was expecting something a lot better than that, hence only two stars, just because ... Read More:

Having bought the single way back in the 70's when it was first released and heard what seemed the fashionable comment at the time that "some records were too good for the charts" I wanted to buy the album when funds permitted. No disappointments - this is a classic that doesn't waste a track. Different in style to other albums that Joan Baez has done but more than worth hearing and at a fantastic price. Buy, play, enjoy, you will not regret.

Hunky Dory was Bowie's last album as an aspirant, just before he found fame with Ziggy Stardust. It's a fascinating work on many levels that display lyrical depth, vivid imagery, wit and great musical variety, from the music hall pop of Changes through the sixties pop of Oh You Pretty Things to the cinematic lyricism of Life On Mars, a soaring masterpiece. Another of my favorites is Fill Your Heart, a quirky number with his somersaulting voice over lively piano and cheeky sax. Elements of the folkie singer/songwriter are evident on numbers like Song For Bob Dylan while The Supermen reminds me of his later science fiction work like Diamond Dogs. Bowie also salutes Lou Reed and Andy Warhol here, in fact the whole album makes references to his musical influences. Hunky Dory is ... Read More:

The post-Barrett to pre-Dark Side (1968-1972*) albums are considered to consist of a lot of aimless instrumental noodling with only the occasional song, most of which are second rate filler. Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, Pink Floyd's first album, is considered to be a great, consistent album that really does work as a cohesive ALBUM. I have to disagree.
Piper is just as much a hodgepodge of filler and aimless noodling as the subsequent albums. It's just that the good stuff is REALLY good and the mediocre filler is coated in over the top praise just because they make up the majority of the myth shrouded Syd Barrett back catalogue.
In my opinion Astronomy Domine and Bike are the only brilliant songs on this album. Lucifer Sam is a good groovy '60's psychedelic ... Read More:

Whilst watching the film, I always thought that Johny Cash sang the OST, In fact it was Joaquin Phoenix. Ring of Fire and Walk the Line are classics , and are enhanced by Phoenix's rendition. Likewise, Reese Witherspoon's rendition of June Carter is equally impressive.

I've been waiting for this for so long - happy memories of 1973 onwards with this as the soundtrack. There are some of the original comments missing but most of them are there (including the pliers/strong hand one which one reviewer mentioned was missing). It's a fantastic live gig, far beter than the one from Hammersmith and if you haven't heard it already then get it now! It's great to hear Mick Ronson's spectacularly raw guitar playing which is a perfect complement to David's haunting vocals.Love it, love it, love it and it hasn't been off either my car CD player, Ipod or sound system since I bought it.

The UK version of Magical Mystery Tour was originally just a 6 song EP to tie in with the band's television movie aired on Boxing Day 1967. Wanting to release a full album to cash in on the Christmas market, their American label added four recent non-album singles and a B-side onto the end. It is this 11 track version which has since become standard.
Released mere months after Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, arguably the most famous album of all time, MMT was destined to be comparatively forgotten. Apart from anything else, it just isn't as good...
That said, it contains four of the Beatles' most famous (and best) songs: I Am the Walrus, Strawberry Fields Forever, Penny Lane, and All You Need Is Love. These four are uniformly superb. I Am the Walrus was a deliberate attempt by Lennon to ... Read More:
