You gotta admit that this is the business when a quintet of South Londoners ignored the whole punk thing and got down to making music in the style of the 60s and 70s.Especially the 70s when Wings ruled.
They said Difford & Tilbrook were the new Lennon & McCartney-thats the bands built in songwriting unit but though many times they were as good there were no takers for their songs other than their own original versions.
Maybe Squeeze should do a covers album as Difford & Tilbrook make their own albums either solo or collectively.
Maybe somebody should do a tribute album-with so much variety the songs could easily be done 50s style.
As it stands Squeeze never had a No 1 hit and not much of an American career ... Read More:

Five stars, greatest concert I've ever seen on DVD, better than 'Bullet in a Bible', Texas 'Greatest Hits', some of the best stuff I have ever seen, only seen the concert though, haven't heard the CD or seen the documentary (yet).
I think the low reviewers either don't like life, themselves or both. That's how it looks to me. You won't regretting owning this.

I've always loved the Bachelors and grew up listening to their music, dad was always playing them...of course I had a crush on them, after all they were two great looking blokes from Ireland with superb voices.
It's a great CD with all my favourite songs and makes for wonderful lazy Sunday morning listening. Just to sing along with none of the hissing and static that used to go with vinal records is a bonus as well.
If you are a fan of the Bachelors then buy this CD I can promise you won't be disappointed. Just listening to Marta...wonderful,hmmmm!!, happy memories.

Don't be fooled Eric Clapton makes it look easy! This is a well thought through set, well rehearsed, well executed and leaves you wanting more! Great value for money as well!
Release Date October 10, 2005
I've been listening to this every Christmas for the last eighteen years and haven't got tired of it yet. The bouncy, folky style of performing carols is much more to my taste than the more solemn choral recording of carols that you generally get.
This album has a nice mixture of carols, some well-known, some less well-known, some merry and some quiet, but all beautifully performed. I have yet to find another christmas collection that I like better than this one. If this doesn't put you in the mood for Christmas, nothing will.

In March of this year Lou Reed inducted Leonard Cohen in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the words, "We're so lucky to be alive at the same time Leonard Cohen is". This greatest hits collection, with its memorable front-cover photograph, shows why Reed was so unusually magnanimous and effusive. Cohen's self-deprecating words on `Chelsea Hotel' and impassioned vocal performance on `Take This Longing' are just two of twelve examples included here which illustrate why Cohen is talked of in the same breath as legends of popular music like Hank Williams, Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan (The only drawback of this particular collection is that it was first released in 1975 and therefore does not include later work, of comparable quality to that featured here, like 1984's ... OVERALL GRADE: 10/10
Prince's 2nd best album, behind "Sign "O" the Times". Just edit "Purple Rain" a little bit and it would rise from 8/10 to 9/10, because at 8.41, it is too long. (and "Purple Rain's" outro is more than 5 mins!)

The obvious question seems to be why did they wait 35 years to release this material, it's wonderful. I feel sure that most of this material could readily fit on any of Tom Pettys other albums though the Mudcrutch material does have a more country music feel than his other material. The best tracks for me are 'Shady Grove' and 'Lover of The Bayou', neither of which TP wrote. All said there isn't a bad track on the album.
Instrumentally this album delights too. Tom Leadons country-rock style nicely compliments Mike Campbells perfection. TP doesn't take lead vocals on every track but the others don't disappoint.
So what's everyone waiting for? It's a must for every Tom Petty fan or even if you're not, go and spend a few quid and buy a really cracking ... Read More:
