A really excellent Kinks collection. The whole CD drips with classy recordings from a hugely influential band. The price is a steal, the quality is uncompromising. A treasure trove of innovative British music, full of songs that surely require little or no introduction.
The Kinks made some superb music & a good cross section can be found here - you really would be barking mad not to get this, it's just ideal !

The beginnings of CSN are the stuff of rock legend, meetings at Joni's (or was it Cass Elliott's)house, Nash's seminal high third harmony and then Woodstock. This first record is full of arguably, some of the best music these three would ever make. The melody, structure and sound were highly original. In a time when guitars were getting louder and harsher, the mostly acoustic sound was an intersting departure. The songwriting is excellent throughout and although of it's time in theme and outlook, the content feels very pertinent to today's cynical and jaded mainstream world view. I can rant about how beautiful Gary Sinise is another day, but now, this is all about The Who.
The Who. Who are they you migh ask. Who are The Who? How can you answer a quistion like that...
They are maybe the best British band ever. They are unique. Sensational, brillaint and have fancy hair. (Not pointing at anyone, Roger. XD)
If I ever met someone named Baba O'Riely, i'd tell her to stop crying, we all live in a Teenage Wasteland anyway...
And The Who made that Teenage Wasteland a better place...

I ordered this set after seeing it advertised in an email from Amazon. I was not very familiar with Johnny Cash, with the exception of Boy named Sue and Ring of Fire. This double CD really has blown me away. Cash's voice is great but the entertainment comes as much from his banter with the prisoners as from the songs, many of which have jail themes. All in all a great showcase for a natural performer. The sound quality is also excellent demonstrating better stereo effects than many modern albums.

It would be easy to quibble about what extra tracks should have been added to the original 1975 compilation but not worth it because the Stones produced so much good stuff back in 60's that a quadruple album of hits would not be too much. This compilation is simply streets ahead of any other. If you are coming to the Stones for the first time, or quite like the Stones but are not a huge fan, or even if you are, THIS IS THE COMPILATION TO BUY. With a bit of luck one day we will see a decent compilation of the later years - the stuff on 40 Licks was very patchy.

There's very little that I can add to the heaps of praise that this SACD has attracted. I received my brand new sealed copy today from an Amazon Marketplace vendor in New York for a little over £6 (what a bargain!) and by the time I reached track 4 I was so excited I had to tell someone about it. Unfortunately nobody at home has the same rabid level of interest in music and things technical that I have so I have logged on to direct my enthusiasm to Amazon customers instead.

The SACD audio quality is spectacular for a start. The noise is absolutely zero on this release so the initial heartbeat sound really did creep up on me. Sonically it was so natural and realistic that if I didn't know the album back-to-front I would have thought that my SACD player was not playing anything and that there ... Read More:

This isn't just my favourite Floyd album but my favourite album of all time. If it was vinyl I would have worn it out years ago. I don't even know who Roger Waters is/was and his presence could not have improved this superb CD.
Sure, old Floyd stuff is good but this is their best.

I've been listening to this record for the last 3 months and it keeps growing on me. This is one of the best record by Bryan Adams. Listen to it carefully...it's full of jewels!
