This is just an emotional review rather than technical or anywhere near objective one.

I have fallen in love with Florez's voice. This CD has got a couple of tracks that I have played almost constantly. Unfortunately it also has a fair few tracks where the song itself (i.e. the material, not JDF's voice) just doesn't do it for me hence the four stars rather than five.

But the voice... he could sing washing machine instructions and make them sound good!

Beethoven - Violin Concerto

In my opinion it is very difficult to identify one version of a work as great as this . Different interpretations can tell you so much more about a work .

That said this marvellous recording from the early 1980s was my introduction to a 25 year long love affair with this piece . Perlman spins tone of gold whilst also allowing introspection in the slow movement .

That said I wouldn't be without Menuhin/Furtwangler on Testament, Oistrakh/Cluytens on EMI or Hilary Hahn on Sony either

In my opinion it is very difficult to identify one version of a work as great as this . Different interpretations can tell you so much more about a work .

This was the piece of music that first really turned me on to classical music, listening to the very first performance from Coventry Cathedral on a small tranny radio. What I failed to realise then was that this massive impact was achieved by brilliant structural simplicity.

The whole work is effectively a study on the tritone, the 'diabolus in musica', that most disturbing and unstable of intervals. Glass: Violin Concerto

This compilation offers a excellent combination of hymns and welsh folk songs, with brilliant quality sound. Unlike some other Welsh Male voice CD's the singing is not drowned out by an organ or have an underemphasis on one of the parts. Easily the best Welsh male voice I've bought and it has become a much appreciated present to many relatives.
