Christmas With Dino

Nothing gets me in a Christmas mood quite like one of those old crooners. And my favourite is Dean Martin. I have a lot of these songs on old casettes and compilations, but I thought I'd get this one as it had all Dean Martin Christmas songs. It does however lose one star. My favourite song, Baby, it's cold outside, has been marred by removing the original female vocal and having some terrible american contemporary woman called Martina McBride sing over it. I find it extremly distasteful when living 'artists' sing duets with legends who are dead, and can't get a word in wether or not they aprove of such a venture.

An Albion Christmas

Some of the best concerts I've ever been to were the Albion Band Christmas shows in the 1980s, with Kathy LeSurf, Phil Beer, Doug Morter and Ashley. They had it all - Mummers' play, "Old Sam" recitation, jokes, dancing and great songs. This CD is a reflection of the band's current Christmas show and it's just not in the same league. Too much Christianity to start with (and I know that sounds daft at Christmas, but it just isn't as much fun). Ashley, you need to go back to the live and lively shows you did in the eighties, record one of them live and stick it out on CD for next Christmas.

White Christmas

Nothing quite puts you in the festive mood like an old classic from Irving Berlin and with Blake's two versions of the song, it's double the fun. The first version is more classically inspired and in keeping with the original that we all know and love. The second version (festive mix) is much more up tempo but still has a wonderful sound, thanks to the unique harmonies and arrangements provided by Blake.The third song on the CD, In The Bleak Midwinter, is another Christmas favourite and really hi-lights the wonderful voices of the group members, not just as an ensemble but also as individuals.

If you like authentic 50's Rock & Roll whether it's Christmas or not, this
is the best selection of songs you will ever find on a R&R album.
First there is Shaky who without any doubt is the best R&R revival artist
in history. The first time I saw him interpreting young Elvis on a London
theatre stage back in 1978 he still was a rather unknown artist but
anyone could forespell a successful future because he danced, sang and
rocked just like Elvis did in the 50's. No-one, however,thought he would

The Christmas Album

This truly beautiful album by "Hansi" was first released in 1979 under the title "Christmas Classics" and reissued in the mid 1980's on CD under the same title. It has now re-appeared as The Christmas Album giving the impression that this is the only Christmas album by "Hansi".
As the previous reviewer states there is also the "Midnight" album and also "Christmas Dancing" and a very unusual album called simply "Peace" on which appear a number of vocalists including Engelbert Humperdinck,Chris De Burgh and pianist Richard Clayderman among a number of other European artists.
The Christmas Album is beautifully done with gorgeous arrangements which also include a choir.
