i came across this quite by accident while looking for the slade xmas single. this one's so much better, i can't believe i haven't heard it anywhere yet - is it only just out. destined to be a classic - davy jones rocks and it's a crazily catchy tune.

I appreciate the fact that most people would prefere original choir versions of carols, but I am now in my early teens and these electronic disco versions really get you in the Christmas mood. Ideal for children and anyone who really likes to spice up Christmas.

I have just bought this for the second time (1st one got mutilated!). Normally I cannot stand the tweenies but this CD is really quite good, and much better than some of the rubbish childrens music you can buy. It even manages to get both my kids away from the telly and up and dancing together without any arguments!

Bach's cantata repertoire could find no more enthusiastic advocate than John Eliot Gardiner. He is on record as saying that he thinks 'the heart of Bach's music lies in his church cantatas' and that these cantatas 'form a corpus of work which counts as one of the great glories of European music'. Those who know the works (many better than I do) would probably not want to disagree. But I for one consider that only one cantata - the opening work, BWV 63 - to be one of his best. Triumphant, melodic and life-affirming, it is the kind of music to convert souls.
