From a psychological perspective food is clearly a pivotal element in the work of "Weird Al" Yankovic, even more so than television. This is why of those two thematic collections "The Food Album" is the better of the pair. The question would be why you do not already have the best of these satirical songs in your music library. "I Love Rocky Road," "Eat It," and "Fat" would be considered the classic "Weird Al" pieces, although I have a fondness for "My Bologna" as one of the best uses of the accordion in Yankovic's career (outside the awesome polka medlies). As far as the rest of the tracks go, it is just a question of, well, taste. "The Theme from Rocky XIII" is above average in my book, but most of the rest, such as "Lasagna" and "Addicted ... If you like the Presidents then this album won't disappoint. If you're looking for them to have shown some evidence of having moved forward then this isn't the album for you.

This album of mostly humorous, melodic and powerful rock songs was recorded during the height of the disco era. It doesn't only satirize the disco culture as in "Dancin' Fool," but also deals with other, more controversial subjects in a politically very incorrect way, always with amusing results. I might have been offended, for various reasons, by "Bobby Brown Goes Down," but instead it's my favorite track on the album. I love Zappa's unconventional sense of humor! The music is very accessible, although there are a couple of more experimental pieces too. Recommended for those who love intelligent rock music and are sufficiently open-minded. It's right up there with Weasels Ripped My Flesh, Joe's Garage and You Are What You Is.

FA are sharp as scalpels, and this is their cutting edge. From a glorious start with Painting on the Glitz, they glittered throughout this wonderful evening at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket - the pace never lets up. Everywhere you look the songs are barbed and juicy, viciously funny, sometimes silly and occasionally moving (Don't Come Back could almost be an English answer to Jacques Brel's classic Ne Me Quitte Pas.)
Listen out for brilliant send-ups of Jerry Springer, formulaic paperback writing, amoral dalliances (including references to Bill Clinton's hobbies!), apres-ski among the rich and brain-dead, mix-and-match spirituality, and the virtues or otherwise of Viagra, among many others. As the song says, who could ask for anything ... Read More:

I love George Carlin, and when an American friend introduced me to Rodney Carrington - I was hooked.
Whereas George Carlin is from NY and has an abrasive humour, Rodney Carrington is from Texas and has a more down to earth, almost personal style - yet still as good.
This particular album is a collection of the first new material in almost 4 years, but just as good as the early stuff. The song "Show Them To Me" is probably the best track on the album. The contents are also performed in the DVD "Live at the Majestic"
Note - if you're one of those politically correct persons you will MOST DEFINITELY NOT like this. It is 100% parental advisory.

Steve Vai, erstwhile student of Joe Satriani, was looking for his break and decided to plug himself to Zappa by sending him a transcription of one of Zappa's guitar solos.
Zappa was impressed and called young Vai to the studio. As it says above, Zappa entrusted the new guitarist with nothing so mundane as transcribing further solos, but instead, transcribing Zappa's improvised vocal "melodies" (Dangerous Kitchen & Party Hats). Thus the guitaring on these tracks. Not only did Vai transcribe them, he played them, too.
Technical ability above and beyond... Just what Zappa liked from his musicians.
There is some good music on this album, but, as hinted at, this is not an accessible album.
