i recall watching a few of bill hicks concerts as he became prominent in stand up circles, always finding him hilariously funny. a few years later, when i wondered what had become of him, i found out he had died of cancer, at the tender age of just 32! what this 'greatest hits' collection is absolutely a must have for anyone who thinks they know stand up. bill hicks stood and still stands head and shoulders above most, if not all others. his philosophy in various subjects was spot on and his timing, second to none. this is a case of wondering what happiness this eternally pissed off man could have brought into our miserly lives had he lived. at the end of every conclusion, no matter how absurd. you find yourself agreeing with him. a must have ... Chocolate and Cheese was the first Ween album I heard, and it's fair to say I still regard it as their best. It's an album where every song is totally different to the one before it, but equally as great, and if I had to compare it to another album I own I couldn't.
Released in 1994 after three lo-fi albums, Chocolate and Cheese, in my opinion, is the most varied and easily accessible the band have made. This isn't a straight forward rock album though, and humour, melancholy, and experimentation all play their part. Songs like Freedom of '76, a laid back R n B number, and Drifter in The Dark, a campfire sing along, sit next to songs such as the seven minute revenge tale Buenos Tardes Amigo.
Personally, I think the albums' quieter moments are ... Read More:

Fascinating Aida's farewell album is absolutely brilliant. Everything you expect from them is there (knicker-wetting comedy in form of "Stick Your Head Between Your Legs", ballads to tug at your heartstrings such as "Modest Dreams" and pure filth in the shape of "Poor Lizzie") and more! Yes, FA have finally let a fella join in the singing: the lovely Russel Churney (last heard on Dillie's solo CD "Back With You") runs rings around "Yes, But Is It Art?", a song mentioning (in no particular order) frozen semen, pubic hair and poo. Adèle Anderson sings brings you to tears with "Modest Dreams" as you realise how much of that song rings true with everyone; Marilyn Cutts gives a vicious rendition of "Viennese" (a mock operatic aria regarding the downside of love) and ... This album was produced by one of the most unique bands out there, and it is a true masterpiece. The lyrics don't ever really mean anything, it's just a whole lot of fun listening to songs about peaches, kitties and an old man. The genius behind the band is Chris Ballew and even though he and his colleague have 5 strings between their 2 guitars (a bassguit and a guitbass, apparently) the sound is immense. And do not overlook the vocals either, Ballew has an incredible voice and his backup fits perfectly.
And to top it all off, the most rockin' song EVER is on this CD, "Kick out the Jams". If you are ever feeling a bit down, just put this on at full blast and you cannot help but feel a sense of total joy.

Absolutely brilliant! Kage and Jaybles rock out yet again!
If you enjoyed the first album then you'll love this too! If you've never heard The D before then make sure you watch the film first as that way the songs might make more sense to you!!
Every single track is awesome but Kickapoo, Master Exploder, Beelzeboss (obviously!!!) and The Metal have to be my favourites.
