There was never such a group as the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band - and Keynsham for me *is* this band. I never saw them; but for much of 1969 this was the soundtrack of summer in Alkmaar and Heiloo, Holland. From pure craziness as in the opening track, 'you done my brain in', to quiet ballads like 'quiet walks and summer talks'; to ethereal tunes like 'the odd boy' which halfway go into more mad territory ("sport, sport, masculine sport... equips a young man for society") - these are very disparate tracks. Yet still they form a coherent whole - up to and including 'busted' , that is. The last five are bonus tracks. But for me the old album is still pure magic, after all these years. A compilation from some of Hicks' early performances provides yet another great album showing Bill at his funniest. This has some great material on it, including some old favourites told in a slightly different way. I love it that he can make you laugh and open your eyes wide to the irony in life at the same time. His political jokes are sharp and witty and his life observations are not only true, but hilarious. Not as caustic as Rant in E-Minor, but a great album regardless. This isn't necessarily one to share with your mum, but it is one to share with all your friends, family and colleagues and as many people as possible!!! Once you hear one Hicks album you'll be hooked. Simply brilliant.

The Wiz [Us Import] i have had this double cd for a while now, well a few years in fact and i have forgotten how good the music is, we know it was not a big hit but diana and the gang did good in my book, i think it was made long befor its time and it still stands the test of time' we all know diana was a little old to play dorothy but who cares, its still great stuff. the songs are all up-lifting and great foot stomping tracks, from Ease On Down The Road, Dont You Bring Me No Bad News, and Mean Old Lion is just so good, great song, A Brand New Day, so good, then you get the best song of all in my book Home' this is such a warm song and you can feel diana give this song all she can and boy it works. so if you have this and dont play it give it ... Ivor Cutler was the scottish harmonium playing poet you would hear on Andy Kershaw or John Peel,s radio 1 late night show,sandwiched between The Fall,Undertones,Bhundu Boys or The Four Brothers.Sometimes it was a case of blink and you miss it,the track may of only lasted a minute or two,but it always fitted in with the music around it.
Ivor Cutler first arrived for alot of music fans via the Beatles,magical mystery tour tv special,but the songs on this cd come from earlier than that.Entitled,an elpee and two epees because that is what you get,Ivor,s first lp and two eps.
This is the first time on cd for all these tracks and when it was released I rushed out and bought it(alot cheaper now),and wasnt disappointed,the groaning and hissing ... Read More:

His perspective of the world is unique and he is able to conjure up songs and poems about everyday current and historic occurrences that others couldn't even fantasise about in a calendar month of Saturdays.
