O my The Dickies. I found them on Youtube, and it jogged my memory to listen to them again.
If your after Ballard's,Romance, romantic voices, easy listening don't come here. This is fast PUNK, and in my top 20 of Punk groups.
I don't think there is a track above 2 and a half minute's. They speed up every song, Nights in White (Harlem), Paranoid (Sabbath),
the time for these songs is about 2 minutes! it's unbelievable. My daughter has just seen the video of them, and she said
The Ramones. While yes l would agree there are similarities (Bear in mind The Ramones are one of my favourite groups), but the act on stage is FUN FUN FUN. To go and see The Ramones (which l did several times) and The Dickies, it was 2 DIFFERENT ... Read More:

When I first heard the album on tape (via vinyl) I was all of about 12 and didn't understand some of the jokes. But looking back some of these jokes now make sense. He really was years and years and years ahead of his time. No, I'm not exaggerating, I really do mean it. His comedy mixed and intersperced with great words making for amusement rather full blown comedy (although some of it is down to personal taste.) Having said that I would recommend this album along with 'That was the Year that was' and 'Revisited' because they're sio absolutely hilarious in places and genuis right the way through from start to finish. Tom Lehrer is a true genius combining his style-mixed Music and great words, and rerally is years and years and years ahead of his time. ... Read More:

I had to share a room with a Zappa fan in college and the songs were funny after a few beers but the musicianship or the melodies never grabbed me by the Colones. Then another Zappa fan introduced me to Watermelon, we heard it with the lights low, our minds up in the clouds and the friend setting off his flash gun at random moments during this extraordinary instrumental. Its 30 years ago and I can remember it like yesterday. Then he said Joe's Garage part 1 was even better. So the next time I had some money(student days) I bought my first Zappa album and was I amazed. I heard it all through the night and I so wanted to express my gratitude to my friend that I wrote him a letter (look it up in wikipedia youngsters) to thank him. There have been very few albums ... I have one gripe concerning this CD: it is at full price, though the recordings are 40 years old, and it only plays for 37 minutes. Apart from that, it is a delight and it was a favourite of Otto Klemperer's, no less. He especially loved "Alma", about the loves of Gustav Mahler's wife.

I can't believe the other reviewers - this is one of the best gigs on film, ever ! Combines noodling guitar with funny socail commentary songs and some great stright ahead rock. Can't be beat.

There is nothing funnier than Eddie. Period. And excluding his films, of all his works Dressed to Kill and Glorious are probably the best and are therefore great to have as a boxed set. There's a wide range of topics in Dressed to Kill, ranging from the Church of England to Scooby Doo (which he eventually compares to James Joyce and Shakespeare of all things). Glorious is also fabulous, my favorite set being Six Million Dollar Queen, where he talks sensitively about Britain's Queen Mother and her bionic eye. I also have Unrepeatable/Definite Article which are both extremely worth it as well. If you can, look into his many movies, more recently "Circus," "The Cat's Meow" (where he is a very sexy Charlie Chaplin) and "All the Queen's Men" which I don't ... Read More:

From the town of Macclesfield in the early-80s came the infamous "Macc Lads", the crudest band in Christendom. As an example, the opening line of "Sweaty Betty" is
"She wore big knickers and she worked on't sewage farm" - and the lyrics go rapidly ruder from there on.
The Ladds' lyrics are set in a world where the mode of transport is either a Vauxhall Viva covered in rust or a no. 29 bus and everyone drinks 20 pints of Boddies on a Friday night. (Anyone who drinks halfs of lager, or washes their hair is distinctly suspect!).
Lyrics aside, for punk/metal this is musically quite a good album, and unlike many "novelty" records will bear repeated listening. The Beater's guitar riffs hold up well and of the 19 tracks on the CD, there are no fillers. Excellent ... Read More:
