I don't know about you, but I try to keep the spirit of South Park Christmas in my heart every day of the year, and nothing keeps the Yule log burning quite like Mr. Hankey's Christmas Classics. Yes, this is an album for all seasons of the year, a collection full of good cheer, good laughs, and of course pooh. Here are eighteen - count 'em, eighteen - South Park Christmas classics to keep your heart warm, your funny bone tickled, and your bowels regular.

Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas [2000] (REGION 1) (NTSC)

CD-Charts > Music > Comedy
starring: Jim Carrey, Taylor Momsen, Jeffrey Tambor, Christine Baranski, Bill Irwin
directed by: Ron Howard

Release Date November 20, 2001
The Grinch feels like a movie made for two reasons: to cash in on Christmas. And to cash in on Dr Seuss.

The movie lacks charm. Nothing really works within it. Carrey's performance is tolerable, but I think Seuss would be mortified at how they've portrayed his character. The Whos of Whoville are some of the creepiest make-up jobs I've ever seen. Although I'm not surprised they made it screen looking this eerie, since Ron Howard is the director, and I've yet to be impressed by anything he's put on screen.

The one saving grace of this film is some really nice portrayals of Christmas-y landscapes. They do a great job of evoking that warmth and wonder of Christmas season.

Aside from that, this is a pretty bad film, and the over ... Read More:

A Muppet Family Christmas [1987] (REGION 1) (NTSC)

CD-Charts > Music > Comedy
starring: Jim Henson, Frank Oz, Dave Goelz, Richard Hunt, Jerry Nelson
directed by: Eric Till, Peter Harris

Release Date November 06, 2001
My family has owned many films over the years, this is one of the few that we still watch every year. In fact it has become a family tradition to watch it every christmas eve.
There are many reasons to love it. For starters it includes not only the high profile muppets, but also all of the seame street gang, the fraggles, and Jim H. himself. Being a christmas special, it also has alot of suitably festive music, in an inimitable muppet style. Being a muppet film, it has a sense of humour unequalled by anything alse.
The reason though that I think this film really deserves its place amongst all the classic muppet films is its warmth. That may sound silly, but this film has a sense of involving you in the larger muppet family, that no other does.
So, ... Read More:

CD-Charts > Music > Comedy
starring: James Stewart, Donna Reed, Lionel Barrymore, Thomas Mitchell, Henry Travers
directed by: Frank Capra

Release Date September 19, 1995
Yes, it is a great life affirming movie with its heart firmly in the right place...BUT...personally I would have prefered not such a happy ending, or a very different kind of happy ending - I just feel that the miraculous turnaround of George's fortunes at the end, while rightly suggesting that all good deeds may be remembered, and returned in kind, missed a real chance to state that happiness didn't have to depend on material wealth at all - After all, when he was given his old life back, George's euphoric happiness was based soley upon his family and friends, regardless of his dire financial state! This was a real chance to bang the point home about the real dangers of capitalism, but it was totally spurned. Indeed, this ending almost suggested, after roundly attacking ... Read More:
