If you are looking for a movie to watch on Christmas day with your family, in addition to the well known Christmas classics of your collection, I would recommend this unknown movie starring Jimmy Durante. This is a heart warming story of a true Christmas spirit, much similar to Scrooge, involving the family of Mr. Amendola (Jimmy Durante), his wife Mrs. Amendola (Quinie Smith), and their only daughter Rosalinda (Terry Moore.) Jimmy Durante offers a brilliant performance as a faded vaudeville star who rents an apartment just before Christmas holidays during Great depression. With serious financial problem on one hand, on the other, they face the challenges of their penny pinching land lord, Mr. Dingle (Frank Orth) who is interested in collecting ... Read More:

We loved this cartoon when it was on air and have wondered why it suddenly disappeared and was never re-run. There is even a third series that was never aired. If all three series were available, there are fans out here who would buy them.

When Frank Capra directed It's a Wonderful Life a classic was made and whilst Jack Frost may not be anywhere near to this standard a 3rd generation Capra directs a very enjoyable Christmas fare.Michael Keaton and Kelly Preston shine in this warm hearted tale about young boy whose father is too occupied with hitting the big time rock and roll stage rather than spend time with his kid. However this all changes when the film takes a rather unusual twist(if not totally unbelievable). Nevertheless, the storyline has a warm Dickens type feel good factor and an underlying message for ignoring father's.Michael Keaton is polished in his role as the father of Charlie and Kelly Preston shines as his mother in a spoof snowman tale that is bound to go down well ... Although this CD contains little-known works, it is my favourite Bax CD and would be a great introduction to this composer. The Festival Overture starts out conventionally but eventually features an entirely characteristically atmospheric Baxian tune. Nympholept is a fine tone poem (used memorably at the end of a TV documentary about the life of J R R Tolkien a few tears ago)which should be better known. I feel that Bryden Thomson's recording is more atmospheric and preferable to either of the alternatives on Naxos or the later Chandos recording. Paen is great fun and Christmas Eve is an early masterpiece with its haunting vision of peace in the conflict-ridden land of Ireland. It is a quite beautiful work and this is a wonderful performance.
