I found this box set on tv and bought it the next day. It has been really good listening to all the old 80's tracks. It is full of all those tracks you hear on the radio and recognise and miss hearing. My daughter will not admit to listening to what she describes as 'wrinkly songs' but it is amusing to hear her sing along.
Well worth buying if you enjoy listening to songs with real catchy lyrics that are easy to understand

Cool album rammed with soooo many artistes that I love! Pretty much all the big songs of the last two or so years or so but I kind of wish there was more of Jools Holland himself... That aside, the track that stands out above the rest has to be Amy Winehouse's `Tears Dry On their Own'. It's down right brilliant and probably the best recording of her live out there at the moment. Kasabien and White Stripes are also totally cool with `Empire' and `My Doorbell' utterly rocking my face!

Um, my wife bought me this, the Edge Of The 70's and the Mix Tape one for our wedding anniversary this week, mainly due to being of a certain age, I guess, oh and having a massive obscure 80's music collection - I've been collecting since 1978 when I was 12.
I must say a lot of the tracks on this CD are hardly "on the edge" - Tears For Fears? Visage? Landscape? The Cure? Ultravox's "Vienna"? However, there are some surprising cuts on here. It's nice to see that B-Movie finally get on one of these complilations, hopefully Steve Hovington and the boys can finally make a bit of money. They were one of the truly great "undiscovered" bands of the new romantic era. That's the thing with the 80's for every Thompson Twins, Duran ... Read More:

As for the "50 Ballroom Favourites" CD ..............
At first listening I was impressed by the quality of reproduction, correct tempi, lack of vocals and rhythms being grouped. However, as a '10 dance dancer' I found that the music did not get my foot tapping and make me want to dance. In fact the slower tempi are quite sleep-inducing. On listening closer, the reason for this is that there is heavy use of strings and lack of brass instruments in most of the tracks. The ones with brass are a bit livelier. There is also a lack of "attack" to the music as if the players are drowsing off - mostly noticeable in the Latin American rhythms which need to be more staccato.
I am sure many people will disagree with me - and I am still ... Read More:

This is my favourite film soundtrack of the last few years. Every song is brilliant, and relates well to the story and film.
The music chosen for this soundtrack is a mix of pop, rock and alternative, with a couple of highly popular UK artists (Paolo Nutini & James Blunt) even making it onto the CD.
My personal favourite is 'Last Train Home' by Ryan Star. I also like 'More Time' by NeedToBreathe, and 'If I Ever Leave This World Alive' by Flogging Molly.
It's the perfect companion to the movie - or even the book - if you haven't yet seen the big screen adaptation.

This is even better than the first soundtrack and i love every single song. Very pleased to see Bethany's Halo on here, that girl needs to release an album of her own soon. Other highlights are songs by Nada Surf, Jacks Mannequin and Fall Out Boy, who all have guest starred in One Tree Hill. My personal favourite would be recurring guest star Tyler Hiltons cover of 'Missing you', it is truly amazing and i am now a great fan of Tyler Hilton based purely on his efforts in this series as he isn't well known in the UK.
