This is likely to be music for everyone! Clubs were still safe places, music had variety, and songs some became household names. This is probably one of the best CD's released in a very long time, as all the family can listen to it. It's not often my parents by buy CD's these days, but my mum always has this on now! Long live the 80's!

I saw this while out shopping one day and decided to buy it. It's actually a pretty good album though I was surprised at some of the tracks, I didn't think they were really in the genre of Country Music. For example, I would classify "Man, I feel like a woman" and "Dance the night away" as more pop. However, as a fairly newcomer to country music, I quite enjoyed hearing these tracks as it made me feel I at least knew some of them.
There's a lot of really good songs on this double CD pack and I'd recommend it to anyone who wanted a well rounded country CD.

This is probably THE best musical I have ever seen on stage ever (mind you, I haven't seen IDINA in Wicked yet, but I have seen Wicked, so this is saying something...) Loads of my friends didn't get why me and my friend were so in love with it until they saw it on stage. Now they listen to it all the time like we do. If you are open minded, and willing to listen to it all the way through to get the story, you'll get RENT fever too. Its phenomenal. Moo.

I've wanted this CD just off the strength of The Dells' "It's All Up to You", which is the most gorgeous song I've ever heard. Typically, this compilation is unavailable in the States, and I can't buy it off of UK iTunes (where I got to hear a sample of each song), so I'm just going to have to buy it here. As a Yank who loves her Northern Soul, I gotta say that the British are first class when it comes to championing and cherishing good music.

....and I can't get enough! Definately worth the money! You get new stuff and old, I was thrilled to find stuff on CD 3 that my mum used to listen to when I was younger!

A little gem of a cd; there are quite a few songs that I had never heard before which makes it a change from the normal Christmas carol compilations - though for all I know they may be Celtic (or Irish) standards.
The instrumentation, as one might expect from the title, includes harps, pipes whistles and guitars as well as strings and is very nicely done; as someone else has remarked the effect is otherworldly in parts, and in others I find it attractively 'ancient'.
I would thoroughly recommend this cd as something to listen to in it's own right or as background music whilst putting the tree up, which I suspect is what most people would want it for.
An absolute snip at the price too !!

I borrowed this from my son and I've listened to all types of music in my 50 years, But this album especially disc 1 is just brilliant.
If you dont like this, then yer dead.

When i first saw the movie, i fell in love, not with Hugh or Julia's lines but, with the film's fantastic music. This collection of songs has become my favorite ever since and i even danced "She" by Elvis Costelo in my wedding reception. I strongly recommend it

Rough Guide have come up trumps with this wonderful sampler of bluegrass music. Characterised by the banjo, fiddle and mandolin, bluegrass' roots lie in 1930s and in the combination of many European and native American folk styles such as Irish, jazz, blues, East European polka and gospel. The CD contains famous artists such as the amazing Alison Krauss and Union Station, represented here by their classic track "Every Time You Say Goodbye", and older pioneers such as the Country Gentlemen, featuring the banjo ace Bill Emerson. A commendable balance is struck between vocal and instrumental tracks, and between faster and slower tunes. Indeed, the variety of artists is testament to the multitude of styles that the genre enjoys. The scintillating ... Read More:
