L'Apocalypse Des Animaux

Although one of his earliest solo works, "L'Apocalypse des Animeux" contains some of Vangelis's most impressive and evocative music. Possibly because the music was written to accompany a series of Frédéric Rossif documentaries about wildlife, the majority of the tracks are slow and atmospheric, and synthesizers are used with subtlety.

A good example of the quality here is "Le Singe Blue", whose poignant trumpet theme recalls Miles Davis's sublime version of "It Never Entered My Mind". More unusual is "Création du Monde". Lasting almost 10 minutes and full of atmosphere, the piece conveys a sense of the mystery and grandeur of nature. The first time I ever watched The Piano, I fell in love with the film and the music. I went out and bought this cd and from the first note of the first track I fell in love with it all over again. Michael Nyman has created a soundtrack that for me sends me to a wonderfull place every time I listen to the cd. I just close my eyes and Im transported to this place. Just listening to the way every note is played often sends shivers down my spine. If you loved the film as I do, then dont wait another second, buy this soundtrack. I promise you will love it!

Get Carter: Original Soundtrack [SOUNDTRACK]

One of the great things about the incidental music about Get Carter is that it was all composed by Roy Budd. So, when Jack Carter puts on a record on the duke box in the pub opposite the station it is Budd's "Looking for Someone". In Brumby's horrible modern mansion "on the Durham Road" it is "Love is a four letter word" that the with-it teenagers are grooving to. In the Oxford Galleries Dance Hall it is the bass-y "Livin should be this way" that thunders in the background. All these songs (which we only ever hear in part on the soundtrack) subtly echo the driving jazzy bass line of the famous title track. Brilliant stuff, almost like a Wagnerian leitmotif for Carter's neo-Jacobean revenge tragedy.

Tuve el "privilegio" de visionar en un gran cine de Tarragona (el ya desaparecido Oscar 1) esta obra maestra en el año 1999, con el sistema de sonido DTS.

Comentar que este film esta muy por encima de las películas estrenadas durante ese año (recordemos que fué la gran perdedora de la edición de los oscar -7 nominaciones y ninguno ganado-).

Merecía mucha, muchísima mejor suerte este film de Malick, del cual espero con muchísima espectación que edite una versión extendida del film (recordar que la duración total del film llega a las 6 horas).

Dejando a un lado el film, al que considero ya directamente UN CLASICO, la banda sonora de Hans Zimmer merece una mención aparte. Es de las mejores partituras ... Read More:

The composer of Braveheart, Titanic and many others has composed an album full of lush strings and memerable themes this is an all time favourate soundtrack of mine and if you are a fan of Horners work a must for your collection.

Here are two of Nyman's finest. The Piano Concerto contains sufficient new material to recommend it to owners of the original soundtrack. Dark and thrilling, this is an amazing work. But MGV is the standout work. Harking back to Nyman's '80s heyday (especially his work with Peter Greenaway) - tight and punchy, this is pure Nyman and is a must for any fan.

The secret to enjoying this album is to skip the first track (UFO...), which is a bit of a turkey, and for which I've deducted a star! The rest of the disc is well up to the expected standard, featuring phenomenal musicianship (Keltner, Hiatt etcetera) and pin-sharp production. From a rootsy take on "Blue Suede Shoes" to the closing track, "That's the Way..." A brilliant album. If you have a soul, buy it!

At first when i heard about the film, i thought it would just be a cheap remake of a heart wrenching diadter. Lillte did i know that the film would be great, but the music be even better. On the CD there are many classical tracks, which are good to listen to just to relax or for enjoyment. Written by James Horner, we would expectnothing but the best music from this master-mind, and so we have it.One of the best soundtracks around at the minuite, you have to buy this, it is too good an offer to pass up.
