Koyaanisqatsi is part of a magical musical and visual trilogy. Powaqqatsi and Naqoyqatsi complete the holy trinity. Glass' music is spectacular and, once you have seen the video then the music, which stands monumental in it's own right, will haunt you with it's memorable interplay with the images captured by Godfrey reggio. This is a soundtrack which is almost insidious in its ability to dive deep into your psyche. To my mind this is truly Glass' masterwork.

Fans have been waiting for a long time, almost 15 years. But at last this first recording of 'The Voyage' has become available.
I heard this opera for the first time when it was broadcasted on Dutch radio some weeks after the American premiere. I had a cassette tape running, to preserve it for future listening. Unfortunately this live version was not flawless (some performers missed their cues), and my tape had to be reversed in the middle of the great final scene of the first act. But it was beautiful, with a strong story line, humorous as well as dramatic scenes, and some very, very strong choral music. And I've been playing it ever since, while checking frequently whether a cd-version was available yet.
And now it is. Not the original ... Read More:

There are so many compilations from the Italian maestro available that a great deal of homework is required before you make a purchase. All I can say is if you are looking for a comprehensive overview of Morricones career or a definitive best of there are superior versions around than this one. For a start it neglects to include the truly majestic full suite from “Once Upon a Time in the West”, one of the most glorious pieces of music ever recorded .That’s an oversight of a criminal nature. And the excerpts that are on here are different to the original recordings from the soundtrack, recorded in a lower key for some reason. Still there’s much of the material you would expect from any credible Morricone compilation though. ... Read More:

Diverse, Jazzy, Funky and Soulful
I bought this album over 10 years ago and it still sounds as brilliant and in vogue today as it did then. I would even call it one of the best R'n'B albums of all time taking into account I am a big Stevie Wonder fan who unfortunately did not guest on this particular album. Quincy Jones a man who lives and breathes music, producing, arranging and sometimes composing for such greats as Frank Sinatra, Count Basie, George Benson, Michael Jackson .......... not to mention classic soundtracks to films such as The Italian Job and In the Heat of the Night. Back on the Block is one his best 'solo' albums.
From the opening prologue where even Quincy Jones adds his own rap seguing into the title track to a ... Read More:

OK. Let's suppose you like Myleene Klass. Great, you'll probably think - a whole 2 CDs of music performed by Myleene. Wrong! There are only two tracks on which she performs. The love theme from Cinema Paradiso that opens the first CD, and the Satie that opens the second CD. Yes, she is a competent pianist. No, she does not demonstrate real flair on those two recordings.
The rest of the CDs are generally fairly indifferent recordings of popular classical pieces that appear to have been chosen for one of two reasons: either to promote another of EMI's "name" artists or to get some use out of a fairly moribund recording with one or two exceptions - the Prévin conducted tracks for example.
There's nothing bad about "name" artists ... Read More:

Like the other reviewer, I first saw Simon on Classic Fm Tv, and enjoyed his "Band of Brothers" performance. The only other tune I like him playing is "Nocturne", but I think he could have played it a little softer; after all it is a "nocturne".
He slightly "bangs" the piano, rather than plays flowingly. I didn't pay much for the cd as I bought it on Ebid.co.uk! Having said that, it's not a bad cd; okay for putting in the car, but I would definitely rethink about the next album, with regards to track selection..
Overall it lacks the magnetic touch of Clayderman, and the extravagance of Liberace....

In common with one of its reviewers I bought the Cello Concerto CD only to discover that the other work on the disc was even better. Now I have acquired the Piano Concerto No. 2. Good though it undoubtedly is, for me the real find is the Harpsichord Concerto. Rather than describe it I'll leave it to be discovered. Try to imagine what the work will sound like, then find out it's even better - an utter delight. Buy it without hesitation!
