If you like the music of John Williams, then you'll be quite happy with this disc. If, however, you buy it because you liked the music in the film, then prepare to be ever so slightly disappointed.

Don't get me wrong, what is on the disc is good, and well up to Williams's usual high standard, but it misses out what is, in my opinion, some of the best music in the film. For example, there's a track for Diagon Alley, but it's not the same music as I heard in the film. Why?

So, in summary, nice music, shame it's not all there.

Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace was the first of the "New Movies" that George Lucas has done, and he has brought back to the helm John Williams, Naturally! John has done it again! The music on this Soundtrack is of utmost quality, but nothing to surpass the originality of the first three feature films; Episodes 4, 5, and 6. The story for episode one may have seemed a bit juvenile when comapred to the first of the Star Wars Saga, but the music is still top Notch. The reason why this box set is worthwhile is not all the movies represented here have had their soundtracks released on CD. Since Silva Screen's extensive Barry project began, FSM has released 'Born Free', 'Deadfall', 'Aice's Adventures In Wonderland', 'The Appointment', 'King Kong' & 'Monte Walsh' & Intrada has released 'Mary Queen Of Scots. However the original soundtracks for 'Robin & Marian', 'Walkabout', 'The Deep' & 'Raise The Titanic' remain unreleased so until FSM (or someone like them) steps forward, these versions are the only way you or I will hear them. There are two versions of this album, this single disc release and a `special edition' 2CD set.

It makes a change to hear a collection of familiar music sung by a baritone rather than the more popular tenor and Bryn fans should be pleased with the selection of music, it's a good range of styles, with the emphasis on classical and opera excerpts plus a few traditional folk style songs. Bryn's voice works well on the opera favourites like Bizet's Toreador song (lots of rolling r's here) and sounds good with Andrea Bocelli on The Pearl Fishers duet `Au Fond du temple saint'. I came to Amazon.co.uk to look for a replacement CD of "Adventure!" as a replacement for my old tape copy (EMI-Columbia TC-SCX 6091).

This was published in 1966 and contains many instantly recognisable film themes and other tunes.

From the bombascity of the themes to "633 Squadron" and "Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines", to the tranquil sobriety of "Girl with a Dream" and "Under the Linden Tree", the album provides a perfect aural backdrop for a leisurely journey through the joyous and serene.

This outstanding and astonishing album was recorded in 1978 and released in 1979. That's almost 30 years ago. Although when listening to it, one gets the feeling that it could have been released a couple of years ago. That's how fresh and resonant Vangelis' music can be.

This incredible album starts off with a stunning opener "Chung Kuo". You almost feel like you're transported back to a forgotten time through China's Dynasties. You hear raging percussion and assorted sound effects along with more toned down keyboards. Then there's the enchanting and haunting feel of "The Long March" and the sensuously gorgeous "The Tao Of Love". Metamorphosis is a masterpiece. All five songs leave you breathless. Would not suit people with prejudices on what classical music has to be. This is purely expressive, sad, and devastating but quiet melodies, where simplicity and minimalism were meant to be.

I got this not long after it's release and in my opinion it is disjointed as the reviewer said who called Mr Anderson a beegie. The single I hear you know, was so different and special back then, that I had to hear more. I wish I hadn't bothered, this vinyl was almost in mint condition apart from one track. Could have saved money and just bought the single.

So I bought it on CD , primary reason to fill a gap in the CD collection, £9.99 from Andy's once again. I have played it once or twice since getting it, now thrice and my opinion hasn't changed, it is not good. I have to fight the urge not to put something better on. Friends Of Mr Cairo is a far better CD.
