This has to be the most beautiful piece of music i've ever heard, and every time i listen it never fails to reduce me to tears! As the previous reviewer states, parts of it are taken from the great Rachmaninov's Paganini Rhapsody, and it truly touches your soul. There's nothing better than putting it in the old CD player, sitting on the sofa on a cold sunday afternoon with a blanket, a nice glass (or two) of wine, some chocolate and a box of tissues....turn the volume up and just lose yourself in its haunting melody. Utterly priceless. Enjoy :)

There have been many Barry compilation albums over the years, so why do we need another, and is this any better than those that have gone before ?

Quite simply this is the most definitive best of album to date showcasing Barry's music. It appears wherever possible, the original recordings of his compositions are presented, and where this isn't possible Barry's excellent 60s Columbia and 90s Moviola re- recordings have been plundered instead. In fact, the only non Barry recording is surprisingly You Only Live Twice.

All the oscar winners are here - Born Free, The Lion in Winter (original recording), Out of Africa and Dances with Wolves. And the album comes almost bang up to date with the inclusion of The Beyondness of Things, ... Read More:

When i think of classical music it's some big bloke on stage singing in some language that sounds like it's from another planet. After seeing nella fantasia and mal di luna on classicas fm (sky) i was blown away. I could actually understand what she was saying. I went out and bought it. If your not sure about classical music then listen to this. Or try russell watson, bond or wild. Thank you summer for introducing me to classical music. Look forward to the next album.

Is this, I wonder, the greatest filmscore ever made? Well, if it isn't, it must come close.

It is impossible to imagine Wim Wenders' film without the sparse, haunting, melancholy wail of Ry Cooder's guitar, the soundtrack being an integral part of the action (if the film can really be considered to have much in the way of action). It is as difficult to imagine "Paris, Texas" without Cooder's music as it is to imagine the shower scene in "Psycho" without Bernard Herrman's staccato strings but, whereas Herrman's score works only with the film, the music on "Paris, Texas" makes for a raw and wonderful listening experience on its own.

Every year at this time Classic FM bring out a new triple CD set - and this year's is even better than the ones that have come before. I didn't think they'd be able to better "Time to Relax", which was last year's album - but they have! And they've done it in some style too by choosing music from their evening programme "Smooth Classics at Seven", which is presented by the legendary John Brunning. I can't recommend this album enough. And it does just what it says on the box. I've got my copy in the car at the moment - it's perfect as an antidote to a journey from Hull to Manchester on the M62 every morning. I'm seriously considering ordering two more copies - one for the office and one for home - the music choice really is that good. This is excellent stress-busting stuff ... Read More:

James Bond - Diamonds Are Forever

This album is brilliant and it is in my opinion some of the best music from the bond saga. I miss the older classic Bond films I thought that Die Another Die was dreadful, If you like the older classic bond music get this soundtrack, or if you like diamonds are forever or John Barry then this album is a must, especially to older Bond fans.

There are some real atmospheric classics on this cd - check out theme from Southern Comfort, Angola & Swamp Walk.

There's actually possibly too much variation however this shouldn't be too much of a problem if you programme the playing schedule.

Best time to listen is either on a hot summer's day relaxing in a hammock or if you need to chill in a traffic jam. Either way, the playing is sublime & well worth investigating.
