This is the most perfect album of covers you could hope to buy. This is so perfect that it brings tears of joy to my eyes (now that's rare). In act, it is a perfect album!
This is Nanci at her absolute best. The choice of songs is wonderful. My particular favourite? - all 17! Her choice of, and the singing by the harmony vocalists - Iris Dement, Emmylou Harris and John Prine, amongst others - is sensational; bearing in mind Nanci is singing at her most beautiful, this is faultless.

My collection of Nanci's music is rising quickly, but she will need to go some, to beat this beauty.

Now where's the remote - I need to hit the Repeat button....

very dull, and he can't even sing. Has a very ordinary voice, no range or emotion. I would echo a previous comment about how this "artist" was considered for an award, it's utterly unbelieveable.

Mary Chapin Carpenter asks on the first track of Stones in the Road.I often can't walk after tapping my toes to country music but I had no problem walking after listening to this cd because the songs here aren't so much toe-tappers as ballads that soothe even when the lyrics speak of heartache and pain.Mary has a great voice - it's soft and clear and tells a lively story.The music on these tracks isn't showy and is just there to accompany her voice.This is the best country cd I have heard in my life - I liked every single song on it and would recommend it to people who don't usually listen to country.

Sugarland are easy listening Pop/Country with a bit of Folk thrown in!
It includes their hits Something More(great uptempo),Baby Girl and Just Might(Make Me Believe)-a gorgeous ballad that really showcases Jennifer's great voice.
Other standouts are the catchy,easy listening mid tempos Hello,Fly Away,Time Time Time and the lovely Small Town Jericho.
But the real gem is the haunting ballad Stand Back Up(a great empowering song).Just stunning!!
This really is a great album to stick on in the car and sing along to.
Highly recommended...

Willie review #1:

I,ve never written a Willie review before and am not sure whether I should apply different criteria to septegenrians. Whatever I'll have whatever Willie's smokin these days because it obviously works. Another year - in this case 2004- another blinder of an album. The issue of duets always seems to bring me out in hives but Willie can generally pick em. I take it that he makes everyone fill out a questionnaire, the first question being "can you keep up with me". On this CD Norah Jones again shows (surprisingly) just what a good singer she is. Similar in tone to her duet with Ray Charles she pulls it off with grace (ooerr missus). Willie inhabits songs like warm jumpers although I doubt if Willie has ever had to wear one in Texas. ... OK so most of us true fans will have a lot of the songs from previous cds. But don't let this put you off there really are some gems to be found on the four discs. With a DVD included I believe this is value for money. Go on spoil yourself and buy it!

I was so happy to see Trisha back with a new album, i love all her work, and it seems like forever since she had new material. Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love doesn't disappoint, when you have in my opinion, the best voice in country and thats a huge complement with Faith, Martina and Carrie making consistently beautiful songs, woven together with some fantastic songs wonderfully produced, the outcome is obvious. One of the things i like about Trisha Yearwoods style, is that she manages to keep each album fresh, modern, without abandoning her roots..... kinda like just restyling your home, rather than moving house completely.

Being a metal/rock fan, I happened upon this lady by trying to find a good radio station whilst busy in the kitchen. I heard Gunpowder & Lead being played and loved it instantly! Turned out I had tuned into a C & W awards countdown for female artists. I hurried to the computer & bought this CD. I've always liked the old C&W due to my Dad listening to it, but never bought anything myself. Well this CD is fantastic! Its cheery, upbeat & fun :) I have been looking around for something similar and hope I'm going to stumble on another groovy chick to give my ears a rest from all the shouting & screaming I normally listen to! Miranda you ROCK!!!

I have read some of the knowledgeable and wordy reviews on this album. I would only add 'SIMPLY THE BEST' from EmmyLou. Every track should be listened to every time you place it on the CD player tray. Simply top quality.
