When I bought this album, I have to admit that although I am a long time Bon-Jovi fan, I was getting a little bored with the usual format... Some of the songs in previous albums had been too easy to skip.
This album is a bit of a departure from the norm... A bit like 'This Left..', and I have to say that I like it.
The country sound suites Jon's voice well and some of the songs have lovely lyrics.

Only one down point - Someone please take the voice distorter away from Richie???! Please? It's getting a little old.

I liked this album a lot even though many of the tracks are a bit too fast and loud compared to music I usually listen to.But I've been listening to it for a couple of months now so it's definitely got quality.

Fantastic CD. I have all of Kenny's Cd's and this is arguably the best yet. Every track is written from the heart and gives a real insight into the man behind the songs. Agreed, there is a Caribbean lilt to most of the tracks but that is quite obviously where is heart is. The Country/Caribbean mix is dreamy and perfectly matched, lets face it not a new thing for Kenny. If you are a new country fan and happy to see the music we love evolve you will love this album. I think it is worthy of an award and havent stopped playing it since it arrived. Over the last year I have been concentrating on Josh Turner, Billy Currington and Rodney Atkins, (check them all out if you havent already !), but they are not getting a look in for the moment. Alison Krauss has one of the beautiful voices in modern music. But this album shows Union Station to be so much more than her stunning vocals. The stand out feature of this album is the musicianship of all members of the band. The addition of jerry douglas dobro has added a new layer to their compositions. This album is simply a must.

The Chicks are entertaining, they sound as if they really had a lot of fun making this album, and their performances are full of spirit and energy - they're a joy to listen to. Faith Hill is a legend in country music, but I do find her to have a more `rock' take on country, which I love. You do also get the great slow, sad songs which are just so well written.

In this greatest hits album you have some of the best songs faith has done, although there are some even better songs which failed to make it on to this cd, don't know why, but its still an amazing collection .

Every song on here is great ( with the exception of `over the rainbow' never cared for that song).
A classic collection.

Love On The Inside

Sugarland's debut album 'Twice The Speed'was different and sparkling and thoroughly enjoyable. It did have a few weaker moments. Thier second album 'Enjoy The Ride' was poor. It was one paced poor quality Bon Jovi type country rock although it had a few good moments. Thier third album, this one, is very good. It has variety, energy, good songs, some very good songs, with really good vocals from Jennifer Nettles. She is the voice of Sugarland, you rarely hear her duo partner. This has some of the better parts of the second album, has built on the first album and added to it. Really enjoyable and recommended.

The album opens with Lester Young's 'Tickle Toe' giving the lie to the claim that it's large rather than big: this is big band music, though with steel guitar, twin lead guitars and fiddles, this is a big band for the 21st century. Perhaps intended to emphasise that this is a band record rather than a solo act, the track, while pleasant enough, is not typical of the rest of the album, rather undermining that message. 'I will rise up / Ain't no more cane' follows, and sets out the band's stall in more typical fashion - Lovett's distinctive voice, country slide guitar, West Coast rock lead guitars and drums, big band brass and gospel soul back up singers. Shhh...I've never told anyone this before but...I really love this album. It's partly due to nostalgia; as a child of the 90s this was everywhere, school discos, friends' parties, barbecues, radio, blasting out of every other car, etc etc. When punk and the Sex Pistols burst onto my musical landscape, this, along with Britney Spears etc, was thrown out- or rather moved downstairs onto my parents' cd rack- but listening back to it now I grudgingly admit that I quite enjoy it in a cheesy kind of way (thankfully Britney has long since left my household). It's not country music (cue cries of "sell-out" and 1-star reviews from outraged country music fans)- just great commercial, radio-friendly pop (played mostly by real people on real instruments unlike much of the chart pop ... Covers albums aren't always appreciated by those who are familiar with the songs already, but I love them as long as they are done well, as this one is. Indeed, I've heard a few great ones by country singers in recent years, notably Twang on a wire (Kate Campbell), The chain (Deana Carter), Those were the days (Dolly Parton) and Timeless (Martina McBride). I expected Patty's album to be of a similar quality, especially when I saw the track listing and so it has proved.

Patty has selected songs from the fifties, sixties and seventies that particularly appealed to her.
