Christ, this is fantastic!! I'm a huge world music fan anyway but this is something really special.
It's interesting too how they meld traditional Irish dancing with Spanish and Balkan music, absolutely thrilling entertainment! I also adore it because my Grandpa was from Ireland and he was such a gentle, kind man. Whichever way you look at it, its classy stuff and worth every penny!

If you like clannad, secret garden, enigma etc. you will definately love loreena Mckennitt. I am now going to start collecting her work just from listening to this 1 album. This album is magic, at first you think I'm not quite sure about this but the more you play it the more you fall deeper in love. The music is medieval, arabic, celtic and sensual with great atmostphere. This is 1st class music so dont hesitate, just trust our reviews, this ... Read More:

..is the only word for this album. I have never heard such a pure voice - you may have heard the songs before but you have never heard them sung like this. Eva's voice was unique - how very sad that the only video in existence of her singing is some amatuer footage taken at Blues Alley - where some of these tracks were recorded. If you can listen to "Autumn Leaves" without a lump in your throat - then you have no soul my friend.

What a treat this CD is - despite not including many of his best songs, it is worth the money alone to listen to the rousing rendition of the all-time classic 'Joxer Goes to Stuttgart'. Just like the occassion it was written about, the song will be played over and over again...

This album was the first RT studio album I bought. At first I was encouraged, whilst 'Read about Love' clattered off to start the experience in my ear phones, that his band were pedigree rock muso's. Steve Gadd on drums, never bad.
It just got better. The lyrics are inspired, at times funny, tender, emotive, angry, ironic. The flamboyant and oft impressive guitar work provides a source of deep satisfaction through-out the album. 'Psycho Street'; my opinion, a fun listen the first time, I skip it now.
For me the meat on this bone in the Thompson body of work is juicy and nutritious. 'Read About Love', 'I Missunderstood', 'Keep Your Distance', 'You Dream Too Much', 'Why Must I Plead', 'Vincent...' are all tremendous contributions to music. End of. This ... Read More:

1) She's part of folk royalty (if you didn't know) - her dad is Martin Carthy, her mum is Norma Waterson (both legends in their own right), her aunt and uncle are Lal and Mike Waterson and Oliver Knight is her cousin!
2) She can't half play the fiddle.
3) She has one of the most beautiful voices you'll ever hear, and she can really sing, I mean, really. I saw her live and the first song she did accapella... gobsmacking. And she's from Yorkshire! What more do you want?!
4)Her versatilty. Some of her songs are thigh-slappingly folktastic but then you get songs like Stumbling On, which is more or less jazz, or Billy Boy, which starts of sounding almost like dub reggae, goes folky and then has a Santana-ish guitar solo. And it's not just genre that changes: if Ms Capromn's ... Read More:

This is one of the most beautiful christmas CD's I have ever listened to. The perfect background music to a family Christmas Dinner. Highly recommended

Folk-rock with greater emphasis on the rock than the folk, In Concert November 1975 was finally released in 2007 and is a fine live recording and period piece. It features a complete live show recorded at three venues and finds Richard and Linda Thompson in excellent form. Linda's powerful vocals contrast superbly with her then husband's lower harmonies. RT is also on excellent form on electric guitar turning even a relatively minor piece such as the Thompsons' cover of Hank Williams' Why Don't You Love Me into a necessary download with his spiky six-string work.
Highlights of the album range from the strident folk pop of Jet Plane In A Rocking Chair to A Heart Needs A Home which is simply one of the most beautiful love songs ever written. The decadence of the early 70s is also ... Read More:
