Beth Orton's official debut was a milestone in music especially at the time of it's release we saw britpop and dance music dominated the charts,Beth opted for a more Folk/Eletronica feel for he album."Trailer Park" is one of those brilliantly crafted british albums that makes you feel proud of our music scene.
1.She Cries Your Name - One of her most known songs although not making a big splash when it was first released it has a more cult status today much like the album. The song is a very chilled out song but with a sense of sadness and fragilty mostly from the tone and utter gorgeousness of Orton's voice. The subtle strings and the gentle guitar riff backed up by the almost sonar-like bleeps throughout the song just give it that ... This is an album that has barely dated - great songs beautifully sung by a man who is a living legend. Powerful songs of social conscience mix with beautiful ballads and an effortless switch of styles. The tale of failed exile, Missing You, is one of Christy's best-known songs, and still has an angry resonance over twenty years after it was written.
Jimmy McCarthy's Bright Blue Rose, with its enigmatic, mysterious lyrics, is one of the loveliest songs that Christy sings - the CD is worth buying for this alone.

As a fellow fan of American singer-songwriter John Mayer I came across Bretts work merely through him, I was intrigued and started watching videos of Bretts performances on youtube and then listened later on myspace.
As soon as I heard his single "Make You Crazy" I had to download the track as it was insanely catchy and to be honest a breathe of fresh air especially with how the music industry is over here at the moment. His album followed and I decided to put in a order. I tend to listen mainly to acoustic/folk-rock/pop and so if you like that sort of thing you may enjoy this. Favourite tracks have to be: "Heaven" "Closer To You" "World Keeps Turning" obviously "Make You Crazy" and the repetitive yet powerful "Ain't Gonna Lose You." This album ... Read More:

Mara is my favourite Runrig album, and I own them all. I think what I love most about it is the seascape feel, something that echoes through every single song. You feel like you're either on the sea, by the shore, up on a cliff watching the waves... it's brilliantly done. I live by the coast so maybe that's why it appeals so much.
And yet it's more than that. The songs themselves are beautiful and when I listen to these I really miss Donnie Munro (although I also like Bruce Guthro - it's just Donnie sings these wonderfully). I think the best tracks are The Mighty Atlantic (a song I've loved since I was about 14 and now I'm 24!), The Dancing Floor and Lighthouse, but really they are all lovely and well worth hearing.

A step back from the Corrs' more pop style to a far more traditional, folky, relaxing album. It's my favourite Corrs album so far.

Fantastic sounds from the 70's revisited. Remember the 3 day working week and the power cuts? This album will bring it all back to you. Having seen Lindisfarne over the years in their Christmas Shows when they reformed, their fun and laughter is encapsulated in some of the songs whilst the haunting melodies of Lady Eleanor evoke memories of musk oil and incense sticks. Beautiful on CD. No longer stuck in the attic on vinyl.

I happen to crash into Afro Celt recently (Shame on me I never came across them before!) while browsing for world music on Amazon and was initially driven by the "Anatomic (2005)" title and cover art. Then was convinced to buy a copy after reading so many superb reviews. The most interesting part being that I bought this along with Enigma's latest "Seven Lives Many Faces (2008)".
I dont want to undermine any artist since everyone puts in their best, but I just had to listen to both just once only to know that this 3 year old thing will just blow my head out!!! To be honest, I have not been able to listen to anything else for a month.
All world music enthusiasts should look no further and those starting to take interest also are looking at the right one. You will ... Read More:

OCMS have a similar relationship to bluegrass and country music as the Pogues had with Irish folk music - refreshing, invigorating and capable of reaching a much wider audience than their traditional audience.
Some of the songs on here are only very good, two or three are rugged masterpieces. Whatever your feelings about country music, don't miss out on this gem of an album.
