Of all the members that belonged to the Byrds at various stages, Gene was without doubt the most talented when it came to songwriting. He was essentially the creative force in the early Byrds, even though Roger McGuinn got the limelight for being the "Leader" of the group.
I cannot understand how this album did not make it big time when it was originaly released. It is equal to anything put out by Dylan, Neil Young, Lennon or Lou Reed. The truth is that many of us realised what a great artist Gene was, only after his untimely demise. Of course some of us were not even born when this came out!
It is a joy to listen to this masterpiece lying down in bed with the headphones on, so that the rest of world is put to one side ... Read More:

This is a perfect introduction to anyone new to the amazing talent of Lee Ann Womack.Traditional country with a contemporary sound.
All her greats are here like her ballads Never Again Again,The Fool,I Hope You Dance,Why They Call It Falling and her duet with Willie Nelson Mendocino Country Line.
As well as her great uptempos You've Got To Talk To Me,(Now You See Me)Now You Don't,Ashes By Now,the very witty I'll Think Of A Reason Later and the cracking Does My Ring Burn Your Finger.
She also includes 2 new recordings to round off the album-The Wrong Girl and Time For Me To Go.Both great songs!
You can't go wrong with this cd of one of country's best female artists...
Release Date April 26, 1999
Gene Clark and the Byrds were really the catalyst for country music being taken more seriously than it had during the 60a.His first solo album was made with the Gosdin Brothers-who were not to see any chart action until Vern Gosdin in the next decade.
With Sweetheart of the Rodeo the Byrds went headlong into country music and probably invented country rock as urban met rural
The 2 albums as Dillard & Clark were not among the biggest sellers but are always going to sound better than the Eagles who are more a rock band.
This is the real deal

My Morning Jacket have always been a curiously schizophrenic outfit; live they rock with crazy prog-infused energy whilst on record they make tranquil, gorgeous tunes soaked in heartbreak and reverb. Jim James' voice is perhaps the most incredible of all the alt. country groups sounding expansive and soulful, their first album was recorded in a disused grain silo to provide the perfect acoustics to amplify this effect. In this low key ep they combine these two elements to devastating effect, it is a recording of five of their most mornful and touching songs performed live at a private gig at the Startime Pavilion in Braintree (Massachusetts, not Essex). These stripped down acoustic versions of songs, which are already very bare, are harrowing and hyptonising ... Read More:

This is amazing! All the songs are great, there's simply no fillers! Emmylou has a beautiful voice! This belongs to every country-lovers's CD collection!
Release Date July 01, 1996
I am of the 'Punk Generation' and went off Emmylou when it all started happening in London. Now I can't listen to that stuff, cept for nostalgia reasons, while I'm having great fun catching up with some of the stuff I missed. And this is a great one! The Tucon Sessions is another. Emmylou is just so musical and this has added poignancy as it is about her relationship with Gram Parsons. Click 'add to basket' now :)

Let's not be too fussy ... to have a largely acoustic live CD by Gene Clark recorded not too long after his most creative period is fine by me. And the sound samples sound OK - if you'd been there on the night with people around you, I dare say it wouldn't have sounded any better.
HiFi buffs are advised to seek out a CD of steam train sounds or jet aircraft taking off instead.
Release Date January 10, 2003
I'm a big fan of Counting Crows, unusually because it's mid-american rock which i'm not always a fan of but there's a great feeling of depth and integrity about them
This album is easily their most disappointing - they've departed from their usual territory which is not a bad thing in itself but in this case they've simply adopted too many musical styles without enough panache to carry it off
basically i'd give all their other albums a 4.5, but this is a three because only just over half the songs are good
Release Date October 27, 2003
Despite the title, this is not a bluegrass collection. It contains tracks from four albums (Joshua, Coat of many colors, My Tennessee mountain home, Jolene) that had been previously released in the UK in their entirety, together with various Dolly recordings that had also been released on various Dolly CD's, though some are rarer on CD than others. Taken for what it is, this a great compilation for those looking for some of Dolly's traditional country, but there is nothing new here for Dolly's committed fans.
The bargain store, My Tennessee mountain home, Joshua, Muleskinner blues and Coat of many colors were major country hits for Dolly. In the good old days and My blue tears were minor country hits. In the ghetto was a huge pop hit for Elvis. Dolly's version ... Read More:
