Some of the greatest love songs ever made. I bought this cd after watching Bliss on sky for a few weeks and thought that Amazed was absoultely brilliant, the whole cd is fantastic and brilliant versions of Walking in Memphis and gimme all your lovin. Also thought I'm Already there was a real heart string puller. If I had got married this year rather than last year Amazed would definitely have been our song.

"But above all else, I wanted to sing like Roy Orbison." Or words to that effect. So said the greatest tunesmith of the last 35 years about the greatest pop singer ever. So... he should know. Anyone with any kind of singing pretensions would give some kind of limb to produce a sound like the "Big O," especially if it involved belting out 'Only the Lonely.'
You could just imagine it: - lights out, a windy jersey night, the gramaphone turned up way high... Play this album with the lights down low, and the volume turned up. You will find something that transcends 99% of 'popular music' and gives you something that will last for decades. Just ask Bruce Springsteen.

I saw Devon Sproule at the Tolpuddle Festival recently - she's a great musician and I loved her set. Afterwards I bought this CD which she was kind enough to sign and to chat for a few minutes. A very normal, friendly lady. I have played this CD almost non-stop since then. It's very evocative of that idealized rural South that I hope still exists. It is totally charming. Devon is a great songwriter but, for me, the songs were not immediately obvious. The lyrics and music are maybe a little eccentric. But all good things take a little effort and, if you persist, I think you will fall in love with this album and the vision of Virginia it conjures up in your mind.

What can I say about an album that is so perfect and flawless?Because that's exactly what this album is.
Call Me Crazy is the follow-up to the critically acclaimed and album of the year There's More Where That Came From. And she just keeps on getting better and better!
There's two things that strike you with these songs, first is Lee Ann's stunning vocals and second is the amazing songwriting. These songs have so much depth and meaning that you will easily get caught up in the emotion of each song.
It begins with the current hit single Last Call, great lyrics to this.Other fantastic ballads are Either Way(about a loveless marriage),Have You Seen That Girl(about losing yourself),to her superb rendition of George Strait's classic The King Of Broken ... Read More:

So many other reviews have so succinctly said what I fear I may fail to say. I was working her Birmingham 2005 concert when Restless stopped me in my tracks. As a Steward it is a rare, fine musical band that can cajole me into buying two of their CDs instantly, on the face of one beautiful song.....but am I glad!
AKUS's music could be for those gentle folk who do not want to admit to liking some country music. It could be for those who like exquisite harmonies and pure sound. Or it could simply be for those who love. If you've never been dumped.....if you've never felt crushed....if you've never looked into someone's eyes and seen their soul stare back, then for god's sake buy this album. You simply haven't lived.

The third album by the Cherryholmes demonstrates how with the passing of time musicianship can evolve to great heights. Tight and variable harmonies deliver everytime. Most of the material used is written by the Cherryholmes with Cia featuring as the main driver. The celtic routes can be discovered on a couple of tracks. It's a fine blend of tracks which demonstrates the musical tightness that only a family band can bring. having seen the Cherryholmes live this year reinforces what an extra ordinary collective talent they are. For bluegrass fans this is a rare treat and I would recommend for hours of listening!

This is a real music lover's album. An Original, eclectic mix of bluesy, rocksy, folksy, jazzy tunes. At the time of performing some of the tracks Buffalo Springfield were playing at the Whisky in LA's Sunset Strip during its golden age when Jefferson Airplane and The Doors were sharing top billing (for a time Jim Morrison was obsessed with Mr Soul Man, written in response to police brutality in LA, singing it everywhere he went). In fact the band's obvious eclecticism on this album is probably more easily understood in comparison to these bands rather than the folk-rock tradition of which this album forms an inevitable part.Made at a time when the first wave of sixties bands had enjoyed their first flush and people were looking for something different this is a chance ... I don't know what kind of drugs Neil was (or wasn't) on during the making of Trans but it certainly makes for an interesting listen.
The majority of this album is odd in that Neil sings through a vocoder, which makes him sound like a robot, and the music is mostly electronic and dark - Kraftwerk style. There are 3 songs where Neils voice is left alone and he uses an acoustic guitar, they seem out of place here which does break the overall mood but they are still good songs. Little Thing Called Love, the only single, is a catchy little opener but not an indication of the dark electro onslaught that follows. Hold On To Your Love is a light breezy tune that gives the album a little break and Like an Inca is a great closer with an irresistable hook. The vocoder tracks? ... Read More:

This is one of Dylans finest albums of all time.
Coming off the back of the awesome trilogy of Bringing it all back home/Highway 61 revisited and Blonde on Blonde it seemed impossible that they could be topped.
What we have here is an altogether different album, with some of Dylans greatest writing. Paring down the surrealism and iconic Beat poetry of the albums before he goes back to the beginning to reinvent himself once again.
The vocals are simply awesome and with the group backing so spare it lends weight to the rootsy feel of country style music.
A great album which I would recommend to anyone!!!!!
