True I have been a Willie Nelson fan for many years. Just at a time when you perhaps expect a drop in his vocal ability after all Willie is well past 70, the man comes up with one of the best recordings of his long career. A rich and strong voice,and a fantastic recording engineerhas produced an album to savor. The man even rocks it on some tracks. Wonderful must buy stuff.

Electric guitar playing does not come any better than this. The seemingly effortless musical mastery of these two legendary players is everything I expected and more when I bought the orginial vinyl versions of these recordings. The only mystery to me is why did they not record together more often? Separately they made marvellous recordings, but together they inspired each other to new heights, as is evident in these tracks. The personal and musical chemistry between Chet and Les is so good that you can hear it not only in their music, but in the little snatches of their conversational camaradie that the recording engineers left on the tapes. "Sundirtwater" is the fifth album from The Waifs, a folk-rock band from Western Australia. Their resume is fairly impressive, with their double-platinum fourth album "Up All Night", and a tour with Bob Dylan both in Australia and North America. "Sundirtwater" is a fine addition to their discography as well, with a title track which has a jazzy groove which is as addictive as anything I have heard recently. There are also a dozen other tracks which may not have the same initial draw as "Sundirtwater", but all of which hold their own with repeated listening.

I am another who was fortunate enough to see one of his recent live concerts. Of course we were treated to all of his classics, plus a few tracks from this latest new album. These tracks were very pleasant and memorable. Infact, an exceptional set of songs that amount to an exceptional album.

This remakable return to form is acheived with songs written by other artists including John Lennon, U2, Tom Petty and Jackson Brown. Some of these tracks are quite addictive.

So, there it is. Not typical Glen Campbell perhaps, but certainly classical Glan Campbell. If this is your scene, then this album is a must.

Some of the songs in this massive collection make you shake your head with wonder - surely this one can't have been released as a record for people to buy in a record shop? Imagine the conversation from 1929 - "Excuse me, have you got I Wish I Was a Mole in the Ground, by Bascom Lamar Lunsford?" "Why certainly young sir, it's right here, that'll be 30 cents!" But apparently ALL of these songs, ballads, fiddle tunes, gospel shouts, shape-note choirs, blues, string bands, cajuns and hot sermonising were indeed issued on 78s, and the public did buy them. Well - the rural folk in the Southern states, not those sophisticates in New York.

This CD is fabulous for anyone to listen to but my 18 month old daughter has always loved it too. We play her tracks 18 till 23 (the end) every night as she goes to bed and Bing's velvet tones do the trick every night. A word of caution: these soporific songs often have the same effect on my husband and I as we listen via the baby monitor!

I have this on Vinyl and it is about worn out so I was ecstatic when the CD came out - I cannot recommend this CD highly enough from start to finish it is very polished performances by all artists particularly Roy himself it is an album you do not want to stop and I wish it could have gone on much longer BRILLIANT!
