They don't sound very different from the originals.

Kenny had two number one hits in the UK (Lucille, Coward of the county) and a top twelve hit with Lady (his biggest American hit - it spent several weeks at number one). Another great album from Albert lee and Hogan's Heroes. I saw them live yesterday (03/09/08) performing most of these numbers and they were fantastic as usual. New boy Elio on keyboards (see earlier review) is possibly a little over the top, but it made a change not to have to hear Pete Wingfield play Floyd Cramer's 'On the Rebound' and 'Last Date' yet again! Something for everyone on this album - your collection isn't complete without it!

The first Eagles album is also one of their best. The two major hits, 'Take It Easy' and 'Peaceful Easy Feeling' are the bait, but are not especially typical of the album as a whole. They are the easy listening pop items, mild songs couched in lush, attractive harmonies and textures. Almost everything else on the album is more interesting and offers more to bite on. 'Witchy Woman', with its gritty, native American flavour offers more colour. 'Train Leaves Here This Morning' is the other big highlight. Bernie Leadon brought this song with him from Dillard and Clark's fine debut album The Fantastic Expedition of Dillard & Clark...Plus. Its gentle pace belies a mischievous, intriguing, drug-connotated lyric.

Lyle's last album (of his own songs) was so similar to the previous one I could barely tell them apart so I only listened to it a couple of times. Seemed a bit of a waste of money. Then Lyle cancelled his UK tour and I wasted more money on the hotel I'd booked... The reason cited for the cancellation was that it clashed with his recording schedule. If that's true then presumably this is what he was recording when he should've been entertaining me in person. So it had better be good!
It starts well enough with the big band sound of Tickle Toe. Takes you back to the other Large Band album. But it's weird: you never hear that sound again, so why on earth is it there? It doesn't fit.

I first heard this cd whilst on a boat trip in turkey a couple of weeks ago,sat on the top of a boat with the blue sea around us and beth singing in the background wow fantastic.I purchased the cd today and cant stop playing it,very beautiful and the lyrics heartwarming.

Chrome Dreams II: +DVD

As a life long fan of Neil Young imagine the anticipation of a DVD! The music on Chrome Dreams seemed fine enough and then I sat back to watch the DVD expecting some footage of Neil and the band.

What did I get? Well, not the 'moving video image' as stated on the can. There was just music with close-ups of a rusting car and nothing else.

So sorry Neil but the DVD is less than miserable. I bought Steve Earle's 'Washington Serenade' at the same time. Again fine music BUT with a great DVD with Steve showing some passion for music.

Next time maybe try to give your fans a treat with a genuine DVD and don't be afraid to show some love and passion for your music in front of the camera. Come on and give it a go!

Eagles Live

This is a fine recording of a great band. However I cannot recommend it and hence it only gets 2 stars.

The reason for this is that you might have thought that with an album cover which says EAGLES LIVE this would actually be a live a album. But no its not, in fact if you read the credits you'll find that there are overdubs added. So it should be called EAGLES LIVE (EXCEPT FOR THE OVERDUBS WHICH WE ADDED AFTER THE CONCERTS). Now if they called it that I probably would have given it 4 stars.

Shame, because the recordings are good, but if I wanted a studio quality recording, I'd have bought the original studio albums. Live is live, it can't be almost live unless its advertised as such!

This is a moving and wonderful collection of songs, the last work of such a fine talent. I've played this umpteen times and it's worth every penny. Sensational recordings, and if you liked the American sessions with Rick Rubin, you'll love this.

Fantastic. Worth buying just to hear "The L&M Don't Stop Here Anymore."
