My first venture into canadian folk and what a choice it turned out be, I think the girls have an unusual but brilliant sound and with the types of instruments used it is a blend that's well worth listening to. All the tracks are great so if you want a sound that's a bit different for a change, go ahead and treat yourself.

It's strange that her albums have in someway regressed in maturity and depth. each one somehow lacking the individuality of the one before. This is the weakest album, no doubt about it. The strongest tracks are 'rosey and mick' and 'perfectly clear' I always loved the unashamed sweetness and innovence in her tracks, such as in 'this way'and 'break me', but here songs such as 'love is a garden' border on nausea.

The original SUN stuff and no foolin' around! This double CD is the
real essence of the living legend called Jerry Lee Lewis. The man who
made Devil's music, who was literally crucified in Britain and USA
because of his marriage; the man who was banned by all radio stations
because of this although he was producing the best and most genuine
rock 'n roll ever! Anyway we know the story and he luckily came back
and would become a # 1 Country music performer during the seventies.
Here we have 40 of the purest rock 'n roll contributions with still a
lot of highlights one of them being "It hurt me so" a song that I had
never heard before in spite of all the JLL compilatons I own. At the
same ... Read More:

Texas' James McMurtry doesn't mince his words and, when it comes to commenting on the state of his nation, doesn't feel the need to sugar coat it or hold back. All glued together with powerful country/blues/rock, his songs don't exist to make you feel better about the world, but somehow, by their very existence, they do. 'Just Us Kids' is McMurtry's seventh studio album and is perhaps a culmination of everything which makes the man great in terms of lyrics, music and performance. It is certainly as good as anything he has previously released. It's all so life-affirmingly human.
The highlights on this album are numerous and brilliant. The title track is an excellent piece of writing, describing the greying, parking lot stoners who refuse ... Read More:

This is definitely my favorite CD to listen to when going to bed, and I mean that in a good way. These songs are so gentle, and it's hard to believe Ryan Adams was like, what, 24 when he put this album out?
Release Date June 29, 1998
Others have reviewed this album already.
I need not add to them.
I'll take it that 'A Music Fan' is ignorant rather than malicious when they say that 'maybe there was a reason'
Woody never record them. Yeah I'll say there was.
Go read up on the man, and see why.
Okay you didn't like the album and everyone entitled to an opinion no problem but at least get the facts right about the man.

You will find it very difficult to find a better tribute album than this. The artists really do justice to the fabulous songs of Kris Kristofferson.
Except the Bobby McGee track which is very poor. Great song poor version.
Nothing more to say except buy this album, it's great.

I agree with all the praise and some of the criticisms so far posted but I'm still going to give it 5 stars. I think the melodies are lovely and my wife likes it and she's a difficult person to please! The guitar is a bit "samey" and unsophisticated but you really don't notice that unless you're listening out for it. I also agree that the words in some songs do not seem to mean much but you can say the same for Bob Dylan. It's like good poetry - you can interpret it to suit your own imagination and that's what I do with this album. I think it's beautiful.

Having come to this album through the film, I never cease to be amazed at how Bob Dylan got this so right. Usually, soundtracks are bitty and without the film action to guide them, seem spare. This is not the case of PAT GARRETT..., which is so convincing an album in its own right. I guess the style fitted in well with his own country blues leanings of BLONDE ON BLONDE and the later BLOOD ON THE TRACKS, (which must have been his reward from the Byrds and their having used so many of his songs in the past).
Dylan threads his themes very well, and there is a touch of repetition that might have been borrowed from classical sources (to the great benefit of the album). While most songs are country folk, I like "Turkey Chase" which is heading into Bluegrass, ... Read More:
