I have been a massive fan of Dr Hook since i was a little child, as has my younger sister. Listening to this CD brought back the great memories i had as we both danced about to "In Love with a beautiful Woman". Even when i listen to it now i can't help but do a little jig, it really is true Dr Hook "You Make My Pants Want To Get Up And Dance"

This Cd is one which can be listened to with the family and friends, i even let my dog listen to it and i'm sure she even appreciates it.

If you haven't listened to Dr Hook before then this CD is a good start as you don't know what you're missing with these funky guys.

The tracks listed for this disc,with the exception of dylan, Kenny Rogers & Townes Van Zandt are foreign to me as regards the movie.
Where are the tracks by Credence, the beautiful title track "Tumbling Tumbleweed" and the end title track by Shawn Colvin,"Viva Las Vegas"??
Most of the other listings on the disc,have no association with the film for me.

Whilst not a huge Byrds fan at the time I like the other reviewer saw the 1971 tour. Quite simply the concert was one of the best concerts I have ever been to.

Well, yes, it's fantastic of course. How could it not be with so many great songs, which still get played every day on radio stations the world over? I do have reservations, though. The Eagles have released more compilation albums than studio albums, and I don't think any other band has a greater ratio... it's quite bizarre if you tot up their collections and count them against the 6 full studio albums.

My main problem here is that there are such a high proportion of songs from their last albums: Hotel California, and The Long Run. One could argue that this is because those two albums were the biggest sellers at the time of release (well, Hotel California obviously was, perhaps One Of These Nights sold as well as The Long Run, I'm not ... Very few have written better country songs than Kris Kristofferson and the quality of the offerings on this CD is what we have come to expect from him, beautiful, moving and thought provoking.
That is particularly so for those like me, who are only a few years behind him, sharing many of his thoughts hopes and fears.
I have sung his songs over the years so many times with great pleasure both for myself, and with various bands,and dare I say, for the folk who paid out front.
It really makes me so sad to hear the weak backing on this session. There is a lack of 'production' about it which, in my opinion, is no way to treat a star of Kris' ilk. He deserves so much better than this.

Not your standard bluegrass collection - much quirkier and better for it. Production very sharp with all instruments picked out very clearly; vocal harmonies very strong, but songs all stand up to examination. 'The Carolinian' and 'Country Boy/City Boy' both excellent.

Probabably the first use of the term Americana was used to describe the music and songs of the Band.Psychedelic music had morphed into acid rock ezcess and Prog Rock in England.The only way to go was backwards.The rather ridiculous criticism of country music was made null and void by the Band who were equally influnced themselves by what has now been called Roots Music
With Dylan as the way in the 70s would become the era of the Band.
In this country the biggest hit could have been The Night they drove Old Dixie down but made by Joan Baez.
Thus the Band were known as album artists who would bow out with The Last Waltz.
A recent covermount CD Across the Great Divide is of music they influenced

Probably a record to change my life, this one. I got it way back in 95 when it came out, cos I heard Pearl Jam were on it. I was a massive Pearl Jam fan at the time. I can barely bring myself to listen to them now. Nevertheless, this record introduced me to Neil Young and inspired my musical tastes, my guitar playing and songwriting in so many ways.

I don't think I've heard chord changes as big as the ones on these songs since. The guitars sound HUGE, and the songs are so smple, yet as with most of Neil Young's work, they are highly emotional.

Now, I always assumed that the lead guitar on this record was played by Mike McCready, until that is I got the Merkinball EP which was released by Pearl Jam as a companion piece to this. One track from that, "I ... Read More:

With two good albums under his belt, "Guitar Town" from 1986 and "Exit O" from 1987, "Copperhead Road" was Steve Earle's 3rd record for the MCA stable and he had clearly hit his song-writing stride. I remember when I bought it at the time that it sounded just HUGE - and although he was considered a `country' artist, "Copperhead Road" was a really a blasting rock 'n' roll beast of a thing with some country tinges thrown in for good measure. Even the front cover and picture of him on the rear smacked of `attitude' - a snot-nosed punk on a Harley eyeing up your underage daughter with less than moral intent.
