A lot of revisionist thinking lately has seen people claiming this to be CCR's most overrated record. After several listens, it's safe to say there is nothing further from the truth. The release of 'Chronicle' has been both a blessing and a curse to CCR's studio output, with many believing that albums such as Willy are primarily filler. Again though, I just can't see it. One of their best single cuts, Down on the Corner, is followed by the classic rocker Up In the Sky and then the superb cover Cotton Fields. I was expecting a lot of filler following a strong beginning, but it just didn't come. The songs that seem to have come in for the most stick- Feeling Blue and Effigy- have become two of my personal favourites, the latter in particular I ... Read More:

5 Poco albums for under £12, it's such a bargain anyone not familiar with these records would presume they are of a poor standard. They are not, these records show Poco at the forefrunt of the 'country rock' field. Whilst the Eagles took all the money, three records here Crazy Eyes, From The Inside & Good Feeling to Know are timeless - buy this box set.

Taken from the 80's Geffen period, this Country album originally displeased the record company,(Geffen wanted "Harvest 2", or at least its record sales), but to any puritan fan it stands out from the crowd. This cd, co-produced with longtime colleagues and friends, top pedal steel player Ben Keith, Elliot Mazer and regular cohort David Briggs, shows Neil's true fondness of Country and ability to write great country songs. With appearances from such greats as, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. The first track,'Wayward Wind' has a true Country swirling string section, cutting fiddle part and Neil's 'storytelling' lyrics, alongside female backing vocals. The second track 'Get back to the country' is even better, (one that would sound great live). ... Read More:

this is probably the deads best studio album, i personally prefer them live, but this is fantastic.

This album was originally titled "The Best Of John Hiatt 1973-1998", but since it effectively sidesteps his earliest recordings, it is actually more like "The Best Of John Hiatt 1983-1998".
Compared with A&M's "Greatest Hits 1987-94", this Capitol release also features material from Hiatt's 1983 album "Riding With The King", from which it draws the title track, but unfortunately not the great roots-rock of "You May Already Be A Winner" and "She Loves The Jerk". But there is a lot of good stuff here anyway (the track list is quite similar to the A&M compilation). Hiatt's tough, muscular blend of rock, folk, country and blues works particularly well on "Perfectly Good Guitar", "Cry Love", "Child Of The Wild Blue Yonder", "Slow Turning", ... Read More:

Neil Young for me has to reign alongside the master music makers of this century or any other, his distinct vocal voice sets him apart from just about anyone.
The weld album taken from the live concert is an utterly superb album that features some very powerful songs that have made Neil young the performer he is. Dylans blowing in the wind has got to be just about the best version I have ever heard of this song. Rockin in the free world, well a classic song that still sends shivers up my spine.
Weld is a true music lovers album, full of power and sentiment, in my humble opinion, one of the best live albums ever made. Neil young, well, a master musician and a master song writer. brilliant stuff.

I dont know how anyone can call this album Loud, Bland or not as good as their first one,... Twice the Speed, because i think Enjoy the Ride is equally as good. Although this album was made with Sugarland now a duo as opposed to the trio they started off as, i feel nothing has had to be sacrificed. Jennifer Nettles amazing voice entrances you through each and every track.
Settling is a fantastic intro and sets the pace for the rest of the album, and just like Twice the Speed, its hard to pick a bad song on the whole album. But for me, my favorites are Settling, Want To, Everyday America, Happy Ending, These Are the Days, April Showers and Sugarland, with 'One Blue Sky' for me being the the standout song... basically the whole album! Buy this now,... ... Read More:

I was introduced to the music of Bonnie Raitt many years ago ... and it was probably one of the most significant events of my life.
She is undoubtedly the best female vocalist currently still making records .... and this is arguably her finest album. I have been known to claim to friends that if I was ever forced to pick only one album to take on a desert island ... then this would be the one.
I have thousands of CDs in my collection .... but this one is NEVER more than two feet away from my CD player.
Worth the cover price just for 'I Can't Make You Love Me' alone .... a song which moved me to tears when she sung it (just to me of course!) at Manchester Free Trade Hall a few years ago.
Just buy it. If you don't like it after three or four ... Read More:

Very much a change of style for one of my favourite bands, but for the best. Perfectly arranged songs and playing by Jeff Tweedy and his group.
