A good album. 'I will not be broken' is a heartfelt song that really grabs you.
Hooked on Bonnie after a friend played the album 'Luck of the Draw,' I doubt that any album will best it for me.
However, I have seen Bonnie play live in Edinburgh and Glasgow, playing some of the tracks from Souls Alike, as well as her 'golden oldies' and 'fan favourites.'
She is a superb slide, blues guitarist and without doubt the best female, slide blues guitarist; she supports up and coming artists by covering their songs eg David Gray or having them play with her at her concerts. This includes Jon Cleary, who is brilliant in his own right but still plays keyboards for her and in Scotland it was great to see her play with ... Read More:

This is an expanded version of Lenny Kaye's original Nuggets compilation. The first disc is the original Nuggets album, whereas the other 3 have since accompanied and made this box set. The original album is fantastic and the extra discs here build on it perfectly.
I hadn't heard any of these songs before (Except Louie Louie). I wasn't around in the 60s but I love the music. This set makes a great change from the usual best of 60s albums with the same songs on everytime. It's also a perfect introduction for anyone just getting into garage rock/psych/proto punk.
I listen to this on shuffle on my MP3 player and I do not skip a track (they really are all good).
My favourite tracks are

Just brilliant! My vinyl copies, including the second copy of 'Poco', are worn and have remained unplayed for some years. 'The Forgotten Trail' double CD set has been a firm favourite for a few years - and if you can still find it is worth it for the few outtakes. However, this boxed set is worth it for 'side 2' of 'Poco' alone. The unexpected bonus track on 'Pickin up the pieces' (an early cut of 'Do you feel it too') is a treat also. After Jim Messina left, their direction changed and became less adventurous, however the quality of the last three studio albums in this set still stands the test of time - and in my view easily eclipses the Eagles offerings. Saw them at their first UK gig at the Rainbow in Feb 1972 - the encore of "Nobody's Fool/El Tonto ... Read More:

The first thing to be said is that this is a reissue of his 1999 solo album which originally came out on Track records with one additional track "Think I'm In Love" which sounds like it sprung from the same sessions. On his solo tours of the UK Locorriere has been billed as "The sensational voice of Dr Hook". This might annoy some of the fans of the old group as Ray Sawyer (the one with the patch) certainly sung lead on many of their songs. I think it's fair to say these were the oddball and humorous songs of the group, and while some of these are rightly regarded as classics, nearly all of the melodic hits were vocals by Locorriere. From the early days of "Sylvia's Mother", "The Ballad of Lucy Jordan" and "Carry me Carrie" through to the later hits like ... Read More:

I have only recently started listening to The Byrds (over the last year), mainly through the classic remastered reissued albums, and they have become one of my favourite bands. However, I had no previous knowledge of any band members' solo efforts. I was in Borders recently and found this double CD on sale for £4.00. What a bargain, this collection is superb. Everyone should own one!
I prefer the second CD, but only just. Words cannot really describe how good this is. The arrangements, the singing, just sublime. Gene Clark - pure genius. Recommended

Here we have all the CBS songs from Steve Stills in the 70's.Too many people think Stills did nt make anything good after Manassas...Well,they are totally wrong! The first L.P "Stills" is certainly one of the best record he ever made, all the songs are soulful, lyrical with great arrangements. From blues to folk ,rock and soul, the man here is at his best!
Less interesting are the two others LP,but you can enjoy a few gems as "lowdown" ,"beaucoup yumbo and a greasy rocking "Not fade away"(just listen how the guy use the wha-wha stomp!)
But just for the pleasure to listen "Stills" remastered,it absolutely worth the purchase.

This is that jackpot album the Mavericks were waiting for. You'd be forgiven for not having heard of them, as until Trampoline, they used to be filed under Country & Western. Actually the band is from Miami, they just do their thing in Nashville!
With each successive album (and since I discovered Trampoline, I've bought the rest!) they've gone less C&W, and more mainstream. On this one they've added a great horn section to give a latin flavour, and boy do they have fun!
Raul Malo, their lead singer has one of those voices that's clear as a bell, and soars effortlessly into falsetto as Roy Orbison's did, and Chris Isaak's does now. The musicianship from all is absolutely top class on ballads, and the foot tappers.
You must have heard the ... Read More:

Sandwiched between his excellent first solo album 'Stephen Stills' and the career best 'Manassas', this second solo venture falls a little short by comparison. Whereas those albums sound and feel very cohesive, with barely a single average track on them, 'Stephen Stills 2' is a little patchy and unbalanced. Perhaps this is due to his restlessness and need to stretch out musicially but the result is uneven.
Things start well with a typically bright piece of Stills folk rock in 'Change Partners', charting the complex romances and relationships within the CSNY camp. Nice acoustic guitars and harmonies throughout that anticipate his collaborations with Chris Hillman in the future Manassas. 'Nothin' To Do But Today' is a very funky guitar workout with the kind ... Dylan - an icon. The Byrds - iconic. Dylans songs played by the Byrds - better than the originals - sometimes. This album originally released on vinyl nearly 30 years ago is timeless. All of the classics of the 60's have been included. No one faintly interested in rock music can fail to recognise the opening bars of Mr Tambourine Man. It keeps getting better over the remaining 19 tracks. The Byrds regularly dipped into Dylans songbook throughout their career, and here they are together on one handy disc - all jangly Rickenbacker and spot on harmonies. The Byrds took from the masters table and and created their own unique blend of lyrical and musical brilliance. This cd is a very good place to start if you are new to the Byrds to see what all of the fuss was about. Go explore.
