It's an understatement to say that Jimmy Buffett isn't all that well known in Australia. Nonetheless he has a few fans 'downunder' and there's even a fan club or two. Getting hold of his albums was not especially easy twenty years ago, but this one popped up at a record store and became my first ever JB album purchase. I appreciate that he'd been recording his songs since about 1970 (was 'High Cumberland Jubilee his first?) but, as I said, his work was hard to get hold of. This album has a great selection of Jimmy's classic songs and is an ideal introduction to his music for anyone who doesn't know who Jimmy is, as well as aspiring 'Parrotheads'. A great starting point for a Jimmy Buffett collection.

I really love this album. Emmyloyu has a great voice! She is one of the best female singers ever! The songs "Bluebird Wine", "Sleepless Nights", and "Boulder to Birmingham" are so beautiful and good! This is a 70's classic!

Another great album from Emmylou. Some people think this is a classic, and I cannot blame them. It has many great songs, such as the title track and (You Never Can Tell) C'est la vie. Emmylou has a great voice and she is a country singer number one.

This is amazing! All the songs are great, there's simply no fillers! Emmylou has a beautiful voice! This belongs to every country-lovers's CD collection!

This album has been well worth waiting for. The music contained herein has not been readily available for many years. The album contains all of the Ozarks' finest songs, especially songs from their 1st two albums. Hopefully they will now reach a new audience. An excellent album.

I tried very hard to like this album, but I don't. While the musicianship is good, if uninspired, the vocal performances are, by and large, awful. Harrison, Dylan, Russell and Preston never had the greatest of vocal talents anyway, and it isn't until the last tracks ('Something' and 'Bangla Desh') that Harrison finds anything of a voice at all. Starr's contribution is just toe-curlingly awful. And why the bonus track, Dylan's 'Love Minus Zero/No Limit', was left off the original album, only Krishna knows. On this evidence it was easily his strongest performance. An album for fans and completists only I'm afraid.

Texas-raised John David Souther saw his self-titled debut album issued October 1972 on Asylum Records SYL 9003 in the UK and on Asylum SD 5055 in the USA. This August 2008 CD is a bare-bones reissue of that warmly revered, but criminally forgotten country-rock album (35:06 minutes).
Stylistically, Souther is like Jackson Browne meets Gram Parsons meets David Blue with a huge dollop of the Eagles in between. In fact, his association with the Eagles then - is on-going to this day. He co-wrote "Doolin' Dalton" on "Desperado" and three off "On The Border" - "You Never Cry Like A Lover", "James Dean" and "The Best Of My Love". Other co-writes include "New Kid In Town" and "Sad Café" from "The Long Run" album. The Eagles now include one of this album's tracks "How Long" in their ... Read More:

I guess with the purchase of this album I'm finally classed a fan of 'Country' music. Something which would have horrified me a few years ago but started with Ryan Adams and then through Johnny Cash, Gillian Welch and Steve Earle. Before I started along this road this album would not have got much of a listen but I'm glad I did as it's wonderful.
Having seen Chris Knight live you can tell he's the real deal. The story telling here is fantastic and utterly believeable with songs varying between bluesy rockers and much more simpler acoustic numbers. One of the highlights 'Dirt' tells the tale of his grandfathers land being sold off for factories and destroying surrounding land and signs off with a wonderful line of 'They're treating my Grandfathers land like dirt"

I can't tell you how many copies of this album (what's that?? some may ask) when it was first released, so great was my love for it. I gifted friends and family because of how it moved me, a southerner with no axe to grind. The music, the lyrics, the narratives, and the songsters remain some of my favorites. For the country and rock and historically-inclined, this is a must-buy. The only problem with having this as a CD is that the entire album booklet is not avilable, as it was with the original lp.
