Okay, it's not audiophile recording quality and yes from time to time he drives his voice to where it really should not be - but NONE of that matters! It's a sad but beautiful experience. A life unfulfilled - and played out in front of a tiny audience. Buy it while you still can. I suspect this is a limited release.
Release Date September 09, 1996
I consider this album very under-rated. If it is atypical of Clapton, then all the better for it. The highlight of the album for me is "sign language", the Dylan collaboration but the laid back "black summer rain" is a superb track, laid back Clapton at his best. "Hello old friend" was a successful single and again, it's a fine track.
Double trouble doesn't really pull it off for me. Some may like it and it's not a bad track, just done better by others.
Carnival is a bit of fun but not a bad track nonetheless. The other tracks are ok and generally the whole album is worth a listen.
It seems that the best tracks on this are the Clapton originals and the Clapton / Dylan collaboration. It's a shame that EC ... Read More:

After making a classic album "Pieces of the Sky"...in the same year is released "Elite Hotel" which contains many classic songs, such as "Together Again", and "One of These Days". This is great country music but "Sin City" is a boring song, other songs are great!

Graham Nash is perhaps seen by some as the weakest link in the CSNY cannon, yet on the 1973 album 'Wild Tales' he comes across as an artist of considerable depth and talent. There are contributions from friends such as David Crosby, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell & Dave Mason, but this is Nash's show, featuring the sing-a-long Dylan-like 'Oh! Camil' and the clever rockers 'Grave Concern & the title track. The best numbers are 'I Miss You' - a delightful but simple piano piece, and the real-life 'Prison Song' making reference to his father. For CSNY fans, this is an underated jem.

To start with 'the Hard Way' is a completely shambolic, incoherent car crash of an album. But thats what makes it so special in my opinion. Steve Earle's vast array of problems during the early 90's are well documented and the fact that this album exists as a permanent reminder of a real make or break time in Earle's life is probably the main reason why he himself never or very rarely plays tracks from this monumental effort.
"I'll defend the 'The Hard Way' to the death because I nearly died making it" are words used by Steve when used to describe how he feels now about the album and from the opening, fist pumping, never-say-die anthem 'The Other Kind' to the closing FM rock tear jerker'Close Your Eyes' you will be left with no doubt that this album ... This isn't a Dylan album. It might seem obvious, but I don't think the previous reviewer realised this fact. It is an album of incredible performances from legendary performers from the last 30 years distilled into a single remarkable evening.
From time to time there are songs that become bigger than their original being. Dylan has produced many of these and they're collected here with renditions from Dylan's contemporaries. If you believe that all music is linked then you must listen to this recording.

This is an awesome CD. Ive been collecting music for 30 yrs and have some real gems. This CD is up there with my all time favourites such as van Morrisons "moondance" and "gold" by Ryan Adams.

Now that we have the advantage of hindsight it seems clear that "Never Enough" was basically an album where Melissa Etheridge went into a cocoon. I mean, think about it. Here first two albums enjoyed some success and basically mined what gold there was to be had from the first stage of her career when she played in small clubs. So there is a sense in which "Never Enough" is an exploration of her options. Certainly there is more musical diversity on this album than any of the others we have seen from her to date, from the solo piano on "The Letting Go" to the industrial percussion on "2001." But while the music may be more diverse the focus of the lyrics is the same soul-baring, personal exploration of interpersonal pain that has always inspired Etheridge's best work; see ... Read More:
