Best compilation i've bought in a while.Ive been learning salsa for 8 months now and needed some music to practice to.Almost all of the songs got me wanting to dance like crazy, and those that didnt, were meant for relaxation time

Jennifer Lopez's debut album is a mixture of different styles and sounds but is fairly subtle in doing this. There's pop, latino, rnb and a bit of dance added into some of the songs (especially Waiting Fot Tonight). If you like your pop music you should like this.
However, I only gave this album 3 stars because no way are all the tracks good. They can get all to samey, but then again there are quite a lot of songs on the record.
I have about 5 songs that I really really like, these are;
- Let's get loud, a fiesty girl powered latino dance number.
- Feelin' so good, has a heavy, pure Rnb vibe and features rapper Fat Joe. Third single to be released.

He has only recently broken into the uk thanks to the hit gasolina. It features many more like this. King Daddy is just one of them.
All the songs feature great beats and all have a slight hint of latino.

I didn't like this cd the first time I heard it and this was because,like many of Gloria Estefan's albums,there was a big variety of original singing styles and sounds to get used to. And this is of course why It Cuts Both Ways is a success - as with her other albums,it is very,very difficult to get bored with what you are listening to.
My favourite track:Don't Wanna Lose you.I'm sure that this cd will win over most people who purchase it.

It is not often one falls in love with a new voice. Lila is a very serious musician who could sing any single thing in any single style she chose. She has surrounded herself with equally talented musicians of all races and creeds to produce some extremely original renditions of mexican songs, mixing jazz, hip hop, traditional mexican sounds....I was starstruck when I came out of her concert...I didn't know her and had not a clue what to expect but I was so impressed with her performance, the wonderful voice, the meaningful lyrics, her passion for her native Mexico whilst aware of the political and sociological problems, her movements and her sense of humour....brilliant album, brilliant vocalist and anyone who likes latin music will love it. ... the boys are evolving and this is where it all seems to begin as the basslines start to get bolstered with guitar riffs and the much more prominant use of sampled strings to form the melodies starts to kick in. the raps are still there and at the high end of quality, the humour is starting to kick back in again witness Dr.Greenthumb (awesome song) and the boys sound vital again not paranoid not overwhelmed but enjoying the game. probably helps that this album was recorded with the fresh return of sen dog and b-real had got the last of his issues out of the way on the psycho realm project (well worth checking out too) and they could all return to their day jobs.

It's inevitable, that's some artist began to fade in the radio airwaves, but not in the memory of true fans. Her highly catchy songs keep listeners dancing for a long time ("1,2,3", "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You"). Her ballads are very soulful, sung very expressively ("Don't Wanna Lose You"). Every track on this album is timeless. However, she never writes or performs a bad song. She proves that with or without The Miami Sound Machine, she excels at music beautifully. She never loses a beat for a second. Accompanying her great music is a beautiful voice that blends perfectly with the theme regardless of what it is.
