After "Whipped Cream & Other Delights" the "Christmas Album" is actually one of the better albums put out by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. One of the most successful instrumental performers in music history, Albert shared arrangement duties on this 1968 album with Shorty Rogers, the "cool jazz" trumpeter, with Albert setting up the brass and Rogers the strings. The result is ten tracks of mostly familiar Christmas songs done in the Tijuana Brass' Ameriachi style works for the most part. "My Favorite Things" and "Sleigh Ride" have their problems, but most of these songs work, especially if you are partial to the Tijuana Brass sound. Rogers does the cool introductions to several of the songs, and we discover that for some reason the ... Read More:

I first watched Eros 'Live in Rome' with trepidation. From revues here. We are in our sixties! A brilliant concert, wish I could have been their. Bought a CD of his not realising it was the same sound track. Delighted that I have the best of both worlds with Eros. Have bought more of his CD's since then and have not been disappointed, only hope we see him again soon on DVD. A great entertainer. Also loved him on 'Pavarotti & Friends'. Cannot understand a word he sings but now beginning to sing along.

Havana 3am was a band formed by Paul Simonon with Nigel Dixon, Gary Myrick and Travis Williams after it was obvious that The Clash would not be reforming even after the Levis 501 campaign got them a belated number one single.
The music is a blend of Rockabilly with Spaghetti Western soundtrack material, Salsa and Reggae and is so similar to the seam being then mined by Joe Strummer's Latino Rockabilly War and Mick Jones' BAD that it was a wonder they didn't reform. Havana 3am possibly suffered from comparisons with the output of the remainder of The Clash and certainly the lyrics have a perhaps clumsy feel, most lyricists on writing about the ozone layer no doubt considered `There's a hole in the sky, where the birds don't fly' before rejecting ... In the early-to-mid 1980s there was precious little chart music which had any sense of history. I loved the original Matt Bianco, with Basia and Danny White, because they were able to roll 1950s and 1960s cuban and brazillian influences together with a synth-pop new-wave attitude, on 1984's "Who's Side Are You On?". Songwriting was obviously taken seriously, and the hard edge sound of 1980s synthesisers proved a surprisingly good vehicle for delivering the cha-cha, bossa nova, rhumba and even hard swing. Then the group split, and 'Matt Bianco', under Mark Reilly, became a rather bland latin dance band, that everyone compared with the sub-optimal yuppie schmooze of Sade.
Fortunately, Basia and Danny White continued under Basia's name, producing ... Read More:

A nice set of ballads, Luis Miguel style. However, in this new CD we can see his dark side as well, with lyrics that can take a hit to anyone's heart who has ever suffered a fall. Luis Miguel has done it once more... captured the attention of the world... Congratulations!!!
