Havana 3am was a band formed by Paul Simonon with Nigel Dixon, Gary Myrick and Travis Williams after it was obvious that The Clash would not be reforming even after the Levis 501 campaign got them a belated number one single.

The music is a blend of Rockabilly with Spaghetti Western soundtrack material, Salsa and Reggae and is so similar to the seam being then mined by Joe Strummer's Latino Rockabilly War and Mick Jones' BAD that it was a wonder they didn't reform. I first heard this album at uni in about 1999 - i was chilling out in my mates room when i heard the intro to 'Super Bowl Sundae' start playing. I was listening to this and just relaxing and then, BANG, the track transforms into the jazziest, funkiest slab of hip-hop you'll ever hear. I instantly fell in love with that song and, after a further 20 minutes, pretty much the entire album!

This truly is an incredible collection of tracks - there's not a bad song on there and, if you haven't got this album, you need it. If you have got it, buy it again - it's THAT good!

Chambao apparently is a word for a tent used on the beach around Malaga. The implication is sun, sea, and gentle partying; not out in a harsh burning sun, but in a more comfortable, warm, protective space. Not a flat out rave, but a chilled event with friends and relaxation. This is pefect music for that context. It's borrows heavily on traditional flamenco, keeps rythm, interest and passion, but takes off some of the jarring rough edges to make creative, interesting and fresh music with universal appeal Hard to beat!

I've been into Ricky Martin since 1999 and own most of his albums in both Spanish and English. This DVD showcases him perfectly. Filmed on home ground in San Juan, Ricky gives an amazing show. The songs are brilliant with some interesting new arrangements, the light show - especially in the Rave part of the show - is great, the videoscreens are interesting and in the case of the Rebirth/tattoo section will make every female fan scream!
It doesn't really matter in the end whether you understand every single word of the Spanish songs or not because during the uptempo numbers you'll be too busy dancing around your living room! If you're a Ricky Martin fan, you simply HAVE to have this DVD!
