I absolutely love this album. I love it even more than Sabrina's first album (Equilibria) although that is brilliant too. I can highly recommend it to anyone who loves modern brazilian music. It's fresh and when you listen to it you might think that summer is here, even on a cold winter day.

Like many Putumayo compilations, the tracks here are a well-chosen collection of top-quality material from local artists. However, with all of Latin America to choose from, the Putumayo people have outdone themselves this time. Every track is a superb piece of atmospheric down-tempo pop with a rich Latin flavour. It's one of the very few albums I can't imagine every getting sick of - perfect as background music and also well worthy of more attentive listening. If you like modern Latin music and only ever buy one Putumayo compilation (and I've bought lots) get this.

Well, it's a VERY long story. I 'accidently' clicked on this album and then 'accidently' read ALL the reviews, before 'unintentionally' preceeding through the whole checkout procedure until I 'mistakenly' pressed purchase! Stupid me! You can imagine how I felt when I waited for the CD to arrive, hoping no one would get to the post before me and thus revealing my apparent bad taste in music! Luckily that moment never came, although I thought twice about opening the package due to my 'unintentional' purchase. When I did, well it was like I was born again. You see, I'm a DAD and now thanks to this mesmeric album I feel COOLER than ever. My kids think I'm daft as I gyrate round the living room, my (now ex) wife thought I was a total fool for swaying ... After "Whipped Cream & Other Delights" the "Christmas Album" is actually one of the better albums put out by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. One of the most successful instrumental performers in music history, Albert shared arrangement duties on this 1968 album with Shorty Rogers, the "cool jazz" trumpeter, with Albert setting up the brass and Rogers the strings. The result is ten tracks of mostly familiar Christmas songs done in the Tijuana Brass' Ameriachi style works for the most part. "My Favorite Things" and "Sleigh Ride" have their problems, but most of these songs work, especially if you are partial to the Tijuana Brass sound. What a great album. All classic hits. Just thought I would comment on the album as the first review below seems rather inappropriate. When you consider that a greatest hits album is released after all the singles in it have been released then the songs contained in the album must have been heared by everyone. Why then should someone buy the album if they don't like the songs and then write such a poor review. I think everyone should buy the album and sit back and enjoy the great music.

Absolutely fantastic. I heard them for the first time on a first date a few weeks ago and thought them brilliant - I only hope that I'll be able to play just as well once I've gotten to grips with my guitar! Once again, fantastic!

Amazing, brilliant, finger clicking magic. After the Buena Vista Social Club I didn't think it could be matched, but this has and then some. I am now going to buy everything on the World Circuit CD list. Ruben Gonzalez is a true master of his trade, and I honestly recommend any type of music lover to take a risk. Gooo aannnn!!

The easy-to-love, soft and swinging sound of bossa nova swept the world in the 1960s, and much of its fame rested with the supremely talented composer Antonio Carlos Jobim. Mr Jobim recorded generously throughout his career, but this 70s collection with marvellous singer Elis Regina is something rather special. Elis and Tom create a darker, more fatalistic bossa record than we are used to, with strong, deep-blue emotions expressed via Elis' searing voice and some wonderfully varied instrumentation, including a dramatic string section that sounds positively mournful when paired with Ms Regina's limpid vocals.
