What a delightful cd. The Josquin numbers are heart-wrenchingly beautiful. And I got to hear new pieces; teh russian guy's were gorgeous.

Definitely a treat to listen to, you should buy three, and give two of them away--if you can part with them.

This is a wonderful album. It marked Clapton's sobriety following his heroin usage, and has a theme of redemption and rebirth running through it. Also, there's a strong taste of someone who has turned himself inside and out.

In places, this is passionate, elsewhere playful, and in many places you can hear a man asking himself what he has left. Fantastic stuff, strongly recommended.

Aimard is a superb pianist, probably one of the finest technically, but his rendition of this deeply spiritual work lacks depth and impact. To me his playig sounds too impressionistic and too gentle to realise the awesome (even terrifying) visions and imageries of this music. I'd be happy with Peter Serkin's benchmark recording (RCA) for profundity and Michel Beroff's EMI recording for sheer excitement and incandescent playing.

Admittedly I only played the first few tracks before yanking this unworthy little item from the player.
