Except for the expert remastering of the composer's own recordings, Naxoshas been repeatedly trying to get it right with the Rachmaninoffconcertos. The Jeno Jando disc with the second concerto and the rhapsodywas nicely played; but the orchestra wasn't quite as good as the pianist. Then Bernd Glemser had a go. Again, good performances, but rather glib, lacking something in the soul department. Now, we can listen to Konstantin Scherbakov, accompanied by the RussianState Symphony Orchestra (the modern incarnation of the old USSRsymphony), conducted by Dimitri Yablonsky. Mr. Scherbakov arrives at thispoint, having established very strong pianistic credentials by way of hisstellar performances of the Beethoven Diabelli Variations, theShostakovich ... Read More:

Imagination. Well, Lets look At The Lyrics:
Call On Me [Repeat x?]
(? = As long as you want the song to go on for and irritate everyone around you within a 3 mile radius unless they are protected from it through the miracle of sound-proofing)
Now, "Call On Me" on the Imagination Scale = 0
Reason: Monkeys could have written better lyrics.

Whatever your view on the music already, this LP sounds incredible in surround sound. Even my least favourite track on the LP (yoshimi battle robots part 2) which I usually skip is transformed. This track in particular illustrates the sensory onslaught these transformed mixes provide. I bought all 3 at once and this is the most astounding.
As a fan of music experiences or the Flaming Lips, you're missing out not owning this.
Release Date September 22, 2003
Very underrated, consistently entertaining music being more than just a collection of songs on the same theme. More than a concept album.
The first track `Blue Blue Sky' is a gentle introduction to the concept of the album (the much longer version ends the album).
`Too Close to the Sky' is a crafted story of man's attempts to fly, sung beautifully by Neil Lockwood.
Beautifully sung is really how you would describe this album even if long time partner, Eric Wollfson does not contribute to this album which is attributed to Alan Parsons alone, not to the Alan Parsons Project.
`Blown by the Wind' continues a gentle theme of ballooning, until the first instrumental `Cloudbreak' takes you on a journey of flying through the clouds. ... Read More:

Although the music is absolutely brill... I was hoping for a DVD where one could see David Live on stage .. this was not to be - its really a CD with still pictures for each track..
Release Date October 11, 2004
This DVD or Audio DVD does not meet to expectency for someone who likes both sound and Video because you have only two video songs, Sing along and Exhibit 13. The rest are just steel photos of what should have been taking part. If it was in a shop I bought it from, I would have taken it back.
But putting everything else aside, the sound is great and it does make good use of your surround system, good for setting it up.

There aren't many (any ??) hi-res competitors for the Franck, which comes off well in a very "straight" reading. As so many performances in the past have tried to whip up the piece with a dose of hysteria, that's quite welcome. Also welcome is the refurbished 24/96 recording which makes Franck's orchestration clearer and cleaner than it sometimes sounds. However, whilst this is never stodgy, the virtues do extract a price in terms of excitement, which never really mounts as it could e.g. Monteux and Martinon. Nonetheless, a solid 4 stars.
The same could be said of the Saint Saens but it has even more virtues. Again, there's a welcome clarity in line and orchestration, some very telling contrasts and a lyricism which provides many pleasures. There are several hi-res alternatives ... Read More:

Without doubt you will know the music on this disc. The Four Seasons have been used in every area of film, television, advertisements, even hotel foyers. The popularity of this music has remained high for decades.
When music is so popular you have to tell yourself that it is well worth having a higher-definition sound - even if you do have previous stereo recordings. I have the Kennedy version and never listen to it - many of you will know why. This interpretation is much closer to the original (using modern instruments) and stands repeated listening. Also the on-screen visuals are quite delightful (although I frequently only listen to the music). As if that wasn't enough you also get a further two concertos - the D Major RV 582 and the C Major RV 581, both for violin and double ... Read More:
