I read a lot of confused DVD Audio Buyers.

First, DVD Audio requires a DVD Audio player (not just any dvd with 5.1 can do it) with 6 analog out-puts (one for each channel) and a compatable reciever.

Second, you need to make DAMN SURE the the Dynamic Range Compression option on your DVD player is OFF or NO

Third, you need to make sure there is no Downmix Option checked (reducing the 96khx to 48khz so it doesn't sound crappy through cheap stereos.)

Forth, Digital outputs, Coax & Optical do not, DO NOT carry the uncompressed DVD Audio single, on a downmix.

Fifth, ALL DVD audio has a 2 channel and 5.1 channel 24 bit, 96khz mix and a 5.1 channeld 16 bit 48khz dolby mix, you have to find ... Read More:

I've not heard of the Crystal Method before, but being a fan of surround mixes and finding far too few being released I stumbled upon this one. The music is quite brilliant, It's dark, driving, threatening, urgent and quite sublime. Very reminiscent of the music played in clubs such as Melt, Warriors, and FF and albums such as the Flying Rhino Record compilations, Travelling compilations, Sacha and Digweed compilations and DJ Jon The Dentist. This is not dinner party music, this is very definitely post club mood music, it'll take you on a journey though it might not be a pleasant one it'll certainly be scary and thoroughly exhilarating .

Was a little shocked at amazon's own review above - are they actually in the business of trying to sell CDs? Ah well, good for them about being upfront with their staff's opinions. However, I have felt moved to stick up for 'Maroon', not only as a BNL fan but to also make the point that generally if you are not a fan then of course this is not going to bowl you over. The flipside to this though is that if you do like these crazy Canadians (you should see them in concert!) then this is a fabulous album and very possible their best to date. I dare anyone to give me an album whose first half consists of so many irresitably catchy tunes. A play it loud, go crazy on a summer's day, piece of pop heaven!

Frankly I expected a bit better sound quality, because the LP was very good.

Maybe the master tapes degraded in the meantime, who knows..

The sound is OK, but nothing spectacular. The surround effects are used quite a bit, as it fits the recording.

The blue man group is a concept art school group, with various anonymous performers, performing across the US at any one time as the Blue Man group. The music is a percussive electronic style of music. And for Audio they have completed what has to be a demo disc for how good surround music can be. Not only is this great for surround but also a good advert for dynamics and how to use them in music. The tunes are strong with a good sense of melody and drama. For those of a technical bent this comes as a full strength 5.1 MLP (DVDA) mix on one side of the disc and DVD compatible Dolby and DTS 5.1 mix on the other side.
