I'm not one for writing reviews but seeing as no-one has bothered to write a review for this Toots & The Maytals CD, I thought I may as well be the first.

If your knowledge of reggae goes as far as Bob Marley, and that's it, then you seriously need to broaden your tastes, and as a starter I highly recommend Toots. This CD covers The Maytals career from 1966 to 1974 and all the hits are here - Monkey Man (later covered by The Specials), their brilliant debut single Bam Bam, 54-46 That's My Number and probably their most famous song Pressure Drop (later covered by The Clash).

There's 20 songs on this album and I can honestly say there simply isn't a bad song on here, this album played through from start to finish ... Read More:

Bought this for my six year old´s birthday and she loves it. The cd was fab at her party and the dvd of the dance moves has kept her amused for hours! She is getting quite good at the dances now - her dad still needs to practice though! Really good value for money.

As someone who has loved all Max Richter's recordings, from 'Memoryhouse' onwards, I know how beautiful and resonant his work can be. This is no exception, though many pieces leave you regretting their lack of brevity. My quibble, however, shallow as it may seem, is that the running time gets shorter with each album, '24' being half the length of 'Memoryhouse'. Size isn't everything but maybe some of the pieces could have been more expansive. Lovely, nonetheless.

This is an astonishing record! On paper the idea of a reggae cover of Dark Side Of The Moon sounds demented - but in practise it's truly fabulous. The All-Stars perform dub alchemy, conjuring roots rock out of prog rock like it was the most natural progression. Great Gig In The Sky had me sobbing at its beauty - honestly.

Any Floyd fans with a passing interest in reggae - or, alternatively, any reggae-ists with a passing interest in Pink Floyd - this is for you. If you can, buy a copy of the original offering, its got a massive 60 tracks! Once the postman has been you'll have all you need to stage a great all nighter for all your soul mates......... so turn up the volume, get the talc on the floor and let your feet go free!

Hits: the Very Best of Erasure

I love 80's music, and I LOVE Erasure. They are so flamboyant, well Andy Bell is anyway, and what a voice!! Vince Clarke is a favourite of mine, I loved Yazoo, Depeche Mode, so anything that he is involved with is always going to tick my boxes!! I have all the Erasure albums, and The Innocents Concert on VHS which is well worn out now!! They are just so entertaining, and their music is fantastic. 'Victim of Love' always makes me get up and dance, and I think 'The Circus' is one of the best protest songs ever, totally anti-Thatcher!! 'A Little Respect' is just superb, and as for 'Sometimes' well, it still has me singing at the top of my voice! I have liked all their music, I love their stage presence, their attitude, everything about them.

Listening to this album is a real pleasure. Why? Because it doesnt pretend to be anything more than what it is: An upbeat, happy, groovy collection of funky beats that demand you nod your head and tap your toes, or even, dare i say it, get up and dance. The songs on here all sound familiar and you think "ooh, i like this one" at the start of almost every track!

In a time when too many artists try to be too dark, meaningful or highbrow, it is truly refreshing to get music back to what it should be: Fun with a capital 'F'!!!!

Great workout music for the gym, and fab driving music too!

It's nice to receive a plesant surprise from time to time. I pre-ordered Jazzanova - Of All The Things Audio CD on Amazon.co.uk about a week ago.
