It seems that every alternate AIR album is a good one. Talkie Walkie was a lovely album but Pocket Symphony leaves me cold. There are perhaps around three tracks on this that are good - Once Upon a Time, Photograph and Night Sight are standouts, but the collaborations are pretty dire with Jarvis Cocker's Party getting my vote for weakest effort on this album.
My advice would be to save your money on this one and go out and buy Charlotte Gainsbourg's 5:55 album, which was written and produced by AIR, and is more of a melodical AIR effort than this patchy piece of work.

Teardrop is obviously the stand out song from this album and is most likely the soul reason why people buy it, but whilst being quite different from the other tracks it fits in somehow. This is the kind of album you can just go out to, travel, and it suits urban surroundings so much its almost cinematic. Whilst Angel and Teardrop are the strongest songs, Dissolved Girl and Rising Son both have bags of catchy melody. Rising Son and Group Four have similar patterns in that they both end up breaking down the song into one very catchy riff of some sort, making it the pinnacle of the song. Although the album does sound very drug inducing, it can be enjoyed either way really. One downside to the album is some of the repetitiveness from one of the vocalists, ... Read More:

The idea that this album has not dated is frankly wrong,of course it has dated, the same as any other album of the era (say, the Batman soundtrack). There is a few good songs, and the story of TTD is pretty much one of underachievement, with each subsequent album mixing moments of genius (To Know Someone Deeply,Supermodel Sandwich)with utter nonsense (I Have Faith In These Desolate Times).

OK. A host of classics re spun and rearranged into 3 CD's. Nothing really new here but ok to play at home pre party. I'm sure it will sell well but just another commercial album. The new club scene will probably go for this one but not cutting edge enough for me.

First off, I'm not a Stone Roses anorak. I didn't really get them at the time and I only ended up buying the beautiful self-titled debut album and the much maligned Second Coming. This album has made me realise just how much I missed out on though. The older singles and B-sides are all amazing, and unlike the Turns To Stone album (which contains a lot of the same material) The Complete Stone Roses includes the somewhat Smiths-ish So Young and the enjoyably brattish Tell Me, both of which give a glimpse of a younger and brasher band.
OK, it's far from "complete" and they could have bothered to include the full length version of Fool's Gold, but quite frankly unless you have the time to trawl through endless record shops and Ebay listings to ... Read More:
