some great songs like I'll Never Break Your Heart, All I Have To Give and As Long As You Love Me, but this band is average compare to "michael learns to rock"

This album, could certainly be called THE album that defined the early to mid '80s, as it's up front and in your face with 'Two Tribes' and 'Relax', and emotional with 'The Power of Love'. The covers of 'Born To Run', and 'San Jose' certainly are very credible. Although this album may not be everyone's cup of tea, if you collect iconic albums, this really has to be in your collection!

Arthur Russell's `Love Is Overtaking Me' compiles previously unreleased material from the critically regarded but somehow commercially overlooked artist's archive. Ranging from Dylanesque folk, country and angular art pop from the 1970s through to the final home recordings before his death in 1991, the album provides a fascinating portrait of a restless innovator and songwriter whose journey reflects two generations of musical transformation. I don't want to make it sound as if Russell was just a musical magpie since every style he appropriated he made his own, and the tracks on `Love Is Overtaking Me' are linked by a sonic playfulness, a lightness of touch and an melodic insouciance. They are are also linked in that they depict a particular side of ... Read More:

Hes done it again, mike skinner is a pure and utter legend.
This album may not appeal to you on the first listen but soon enough you wont be able to press stop.
mike skinner is a lyrical genius without a doubt and this album throws the life of the average lad in your face through addidctive rhymes and catchy beats.
i got the album the 1st day it came out years ago and its never been taked out of the stereo.
after his debut album (original pirate material) this is another addition to a true british street hero. *****

Although this is a soundtrack album, this does work as a standout piece of music. It can't be considered her finest work but there is still plenty here to enjoy. It goes without saying that this is music to relax to and although some of the tracks don't linger in the memory,'The Celts' is definitely a worthwhile purchase.
Standout tracks here are 'The Celts','Aldebaran' and the fabulous 'Boadicea'.Well worth a listen but perhaps more so than her other albums it does help if you are an Enya fan.

As I could not wait the UK release of this album, I bought this Buddha Bar X through Amazon.fr (18 February 2008 release). I've been a big fan of the Buddha Bar series, and at every new album release I'm half excited and half anxious because I'm afraid that someday they will disappoint me. Every previous album was a delightful surprise. I don't know how they do it, but it just never fails to come up to my expectations, they keep on producing such pleasant (often CD1) and exciting (mostly CD2) music. And yes, THEY DID IT AGAIN with the Buddha Bar X!!! This music always touches the right spot of your heart, takes your mind away to a place where you feel so peaceful. I'm already thrilled how the XI will turn out... But until then, I have ten boxes of exquisite ... Read More:

Having had Happy Families and Mange Tout on vinyl for some time, and disposed of their ill-advised third album, Believe You Me, after one listen, I was wary about buying a 'best of'. However this budget issue is a real gem, the sound quality is sympathetically mastered and picks up some of the layers of ethnic percussion my poor old stylus never quite got hold of! What's also good is this album collates all the real hits in the first 8 or 9 tracks, then adds some interesting (ok, "Now Get Out Of That" is fairly dire) b-sides, then some choice album tracks and even a 1990 farewall song. The irony of this title "Your Time Has Gone" just reaffirms Neil's often tongue-in-cheek lyrics, although his approach to the dark subject matter on "Running Thin" is extremely ... Read More:

If you liked funk in the 70s then this is right up your alley and in my opinion, it's good stuff. It does not quite thrill me like funk did way back then, but of course in those days funk was new on the scene and I was lot younger aswell, so the tendency to get up and shake my tail feather (in a completely embarrassing way) was a good deal greater than it is now. Even so, this record is genuinely funky and it is instrumented in much the way things were back then, so you hear the clavinet, and some scratchy sounding strats and all the rest of them doing their funky thing just how they did back then. So I reckon with a couple of drinks inside me and the right atmosphere this would get me up.
But, at the risk of boring your underwear clean into the ... Read More:

This album is track after track of hits. Highly camp, naughty and lots of fun; if you enjoy Mika, Queen's more tongue-in-cheek tracks or Elton John's dance tracks you will probably enjoy this album!
While the fun and funky 'Take Your Mama', 'Music is the victim' (both with echoes of Elton John at his most upbeat), 'Comfortably Numb' (the fantastic cover of Pink Floyd's great track) and 'Filthy/Gorgeous' will have you singing and dancing unashamedly, the gentler 'Mary' and 'Return to Oz' show more depth and tenderness, and are both moving and beautiful. In my opinion just about all the tracks on the album are winners!
This is a cd that I come back to over and over again, it lifts the spirits with its infectious sense of fun and naughty ... Read More:
I usually don't like albums by any artists, because there is a few good tracks, and the rest is rubbish. Well, with this one - it's almost all perfect tracks with a couple that's only 8/10. Make sure you listen to this. It's something that the radios haven't played to boredom - but it's just as good, if not better. I wish the artist would get picked up even more - as he would rightfully deserve, for this is mature, quality R'n'B material. I think it ranks among the best. Why? I can't tell. If I could, it would mean it fits a scheme. It doesn't. It's just good. Listen to it, and You'll know what I am talking about. If I ever chose someone to be the fan of, it would be Jay Sean for this album (even though the first one, "Me against myself" was great as well). ... Read More:
